Job Summary
Technician will be expected to carry out experiments designed by the PI and postdoctoral fellows in discussion with the technician. Research projects in the lab focus on novel drug delivery devices, the endogenous cannabinoid system, its role in health and disease, and how the constituents of cannabis (e.g., THC and cannabidiol) interact with endocannabinoids to produce their effects (both beneficial and detrimental). The technician will consult with other research personnel on appropriate lab procedures.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Conducts quantitative analysis of microscopic images
- Assists with mouse behavioral experiments, including mouse handling, husbandry, behavioral testing, perfusion, and tissue extraction
General Responsibilities
- Responsible for the initiation, monitoring, completion, and reporting of routine to moderately complex research studies.
- Organizes and implements data review and analysis.
- Oversees the proper handling of laboratory specimens including processes, shipping, storage, and documentation and transfer to designated central laboratories.
- Conducts data quality assurance practices.
- Prepares research summaries and assists in progress report development.
- Maintains laboratory work areas.
Qualifications

Required
- Bachelor's degree in science or health-related discipline

Working Conditions / Demands

Position: The lab assistant/technician will primarily be responsible for the custody and handling of cannabis samples and following established laboratory procedures.
Duties include:
· Homogenizing cannabis samples
· Testing samples (limited test array)
· Preparing cannabis samples for a variety of assays.
· Maintaining a safe, clean, and aseptic work area.
· Strictly following all safety procedures and documents.
· Reviewing, verifying, and reporting data.
· Completing documentation to ensure traceability.
