Job Summary
Technician will be expected to carry out experiments designed by the PI and postdoctoral fellows in discussion with the technician. Research projects in the lab focus on novel drug delivery devices, the endogenous cannabinoid system, its role in health and disease, and how the constituents of cannabis (e.g., THC and cannabidiol) interact with endocannabinoids to produce their effects (both beneficial and detrimental). The Laboratory Assistant performs testing to provide data for the evaluation of cannabis-related specimens. Performs at a high degree of professional excellence, including but not limited to sound, independent judgment, reliability, initiation, flexibility, and interpersonal relationships and communications.
The Laboratory Assistant must conform to acceptable professional standards of conduct defined by the practice leadership. To be successful, this person requires minimal or no direct supervision and can work independently.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Records quality control metrics according to established protocol.
- Performs physical testing on various cannabis-related specimens following laboratory, state, and ISO 17025 standards.
- Monitors test analysis and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytical performance are maintained.
- Performs various procedures with cannabis specimens using analytical equipment.
- Follows established protocols for analysis, quality, and ancillary procedures.
- Performs remedial actions and records all quality control failures and corrective actions according to established protocol.
- Performs and logs instrument maintenance according to established protocol.
- Maintains good inventory and notifies the appropriate person when inventory is low.
- Interrupts testing to perform rush procedures when necessary.
- Demonstrates troubleshooting skills.
- Maintains a clean work area, sanitizes all countertops at the end of shift, and fills out the cleaning log.
- Adheres to laboratory safety practices, including but not limited to OSHA hazardous chemicals training and monitoring.
- Cooperates and effectively communicates with laboratory personnel.
- Assists in the development of new policies and procedures.
- Participates in Proficiency Testing if involved in routine specimen testing.
Qualifications
- Required: 6 months hands-on working experience with cannabis products (i.e. budtender, production, manufacturing, etc.)
- Associate’s degree in Biological or Chemical Sciences preferred.
- At least six months of experience in a regulated laboratory environment is preferred.
- Reasoning skills to apply principles to draw valid conclusions, interpret technical instructions, etc.
- Advanced math skills to set limits and understand and use CV’s and SD’s.
- Follow good laboratory and documentation practices.
- Can use an analytical balance and air displacement micro pipettors with minimal assistance
- Contribute to and drive safety culture.
- Good communication skills in both written and oral form.
- Ability to read and comprehend English and comprehend and follow oral and/or written instructions.

Position Summary
The Laboratory Assistant will assist and support the routine and non-routine day to day operations within the Laboratory. This position will perform sample intake, retention room upkeep, lab preparation, and support the testing within the laboratory and ensure that all responsibilities are conducted based on quality and safety procedures. Objective:
Laboratory Assistant's will perform laboratory refining tasks to assist in the production of various medical marijuana products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: A Laboratory Assistant Team Member position is responsible for assisting the Oil Manufacturing Team with daily tasks. An Assistant is responsible for the pre-processing of extraction material, packaging, assisting with the cleaning of extraction equipment and assisting the manufacturing team when needed.
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Laboratory Operations
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work requires periods of prolonged sitting and standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires normal range of hearing. Requires hand-eye coordination, the ability to operate a telephone, calculator, extraction equipment, etc. Requires lifting, possibly up to 50 pounds occasionally.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a busy medical cannabis production facility. The laboratory area can be loud due to machine operations, ventilation fans, etc. The laboratory temperature is maintained at 68°F to ensure proper machinery functions. Will be in almost constant contact with co-workers. Work can be stressful and may include dealing with difficult patients, media outlets, and law enforcement. Should be available to work varied hours and/or days, including nights, weekends, holidays, or possibly city events.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Ø Pre-processing of extraction material: Griding of flower and trim for extraction, Filling freeze dryers with extraction material and dividing freeze-dried extraction material into pre-weighed units for extraction.

ROLE SUMMARY
God’s Flower is seeking a cGMP Lab Assistant preferably with experience working in the lab environment in pharmaceutical, food, beverage, or cannabis industries to assist Head of Lab with daily operations of manufacturing of hemp and cannabis products. Under supervision of Head of Lab, Laboratory Assistant will perform all necessary daily tasks assisting in formulation, filling, labeling, storing etc. activities conforming to strict established cGMP Laboratory SOPs for manufacturing and production of finished goods that are patient safe, high quality, and effective dry bud, medicinal cannabis oils and other related products for ingestion, inhalation, or topical application.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Head of Laboratory in formulating, filling, labeling, ordering, storing and other daily tasks.
- Ensuring all products are produced in a safe environment for our employees while adhering to all governmental regulations for this industry.
- Ensuring all products are safe and effective for patient use. Assist in developing and enforcing proper product and work-in-process tracking, movement, product security and compliance with FDA, OSHA regulations, and applicable laboratory procedures.
- Assisting as needed in creating SOPs, documentation licensing and keeping certifications updated.
- Use manufacturing & production software systems, reporting systems, train other/new team members on lab protocols & SOP’s.
- Work closely with the Head of Lab and Head of Production to implement best practices, drive continuous improvement and ensure SOPs are followed in daily production processes.
- Regularly report to the Head of Lab &/or owners with required data & production schedules..
- Actively participate in driving efficiency improvement initiatives in production, labeling, packaging, and warehousing.
- Work closely with company dispensaries and the wholesale sales team to manage product supply, the operations, and our supply chain to ensure timely delivery of products.

The primary purpose of the Laboratory Assistant (“Lab Asst.”) is to ensure proper sample receipt, handling, and measurement in accordance with prescribed methods and standard operating procedures. The Lab Asst. will be exposed to a wide range of preparatory and analytical techniques (ICP-MS, GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, microbiological culture and plating, PCR, microarray technology) by assisting with laboratory tasks such as labware cleaning, equipment calibrations, and environmental monitoring. The lab asst. is also responsible for organizing and maintaining samples & supplies inventories.
Responsibilities:
- Receive all samples into the laboratory according to SOPs & client policies
- Accession samples into LIMS system
- Manage sample storage & disposal of samples after required holding periods
- Assist with pooling and homogenizing sample batches to prepare for analyses required
- Perform procedures in accordance with SOPs
- Accurately document all activities related to sample handling, storage, preparation, analysis, and disposal
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces
- Utilize LIMS to record sample receipt, movements, and results
- Responsible for weekly inventory counts of laboratory consumables & communicating items that need to be ordered to procurement
- Receive inventory into the lab and log shipments into the LIMS
- Assist with preparation of reagents such as mobile phases, microbiological media
- Perform regular equipment/instrumentation calibration checks (e.g., balance calibration verification, temperature monitoring)
- Assist management & sales with order entry into LIMS & other tracking systems
- Assist with filing of COAs and SDS
- Other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager
Requirements
- Fundamental understanding of basic laboratory techniques
- Basic laboratory skills, i.e., using a balance, pipetting, and performing other quantitative techniques
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- A BA or BS in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or related field (preferred)
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory (or another regulated laboratory setting) (preferred)
- Cannabis industry experience a plus

Position OverviewThe Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for assisting in all supportive tasks associated with the extraction and refinement of cannabis, focusing on preparatory duties that allow workflow and production to continue smoothly. This is an entry-level lab role that involves supporting the daily operations of the Laboratory Technician and Lab Manager to optimize production within the lab. This role does not include operation of the extraction and refinement machines within the laboratory. The ideal candidate will have strong organization and multi-tasking skills. Data tracking and logging is essential in this role. Experience in a production-based cannabis extraction facility is preferred, and a background with laboratory experience is highly favored. The Laboratory Assistant will be able to follow company SOP’s efficiently and safely, and thrives in a detail-oriented, collaborative environment. The ability to learn and apply new scientific concepts to improve workflow, efficiency, and safety is paramount. Regular exposure to finely milled plant material and dry green waste is expected, so allergies or sensitivities to dry cannabis plant material should be taken into consideration before applying to this role.

CannaSafe is looking for a motivated and detailed oriented Lab Assistant to join our team! In this role, the Lab Assistant is responsible for maintaining an orderly and sanitary lab at all times. Lab Assistant Job Responsibilities:
- Input sample data and paperwork into system
- Photograph samples and products
- Prep samples for processing in the lab
- Uphold laboratory safety standards
- Keep Intake Area clean and tidy
- Support intake manager and daily intake duties
- Preparing equipment and plant materials for extraction.
- Cleaning and maintaining process equipment and laboratory facility to meet state and local requirement.
- Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals, and equipment used in laboratory.
- Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms, and working areas immaculate.
- Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware.
- Sterilize and wash equipment
- Performing clerical work related to laboratory actives such as word processing, record keeping filing.
- Maintaining Material Safety Data sheets for all department chemical and products.
- Make accurate mathematical calculations.
- Ability to understand and apply work methodologies to drive accuracy
- Perform sample prep
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- HS Diploma or Equivalent required, associate degree preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a lab or food handling
- Exposure to policy & procedures that adhere to strict health and safety practices, preferably in regulated field producing pharmaceutical grade products
- Must have a positive and supportive attitude in the workplace.
- Must be able to work in a teamwork oriented working environment.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and seek guidance when needed
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a strong work ethic.
- Excellent office skills such as record keeping, filing and operating office equipment
- Effective oral and written communication including ability to communicate with individuals in differing roles including employees, customers, and vendors.
- Interest in learning laboratory processes for potential growth opportunity. Background in Chemistry a plus

Under supervision of the neuromedical core manager, incumbent provides general laboratory and research support to staff at the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program (HNRP) and Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (CMCR). Assist in collection research specimen via phlebotomy and logs laboratory fluid samples, assists in review of participant charts to identify relevant data, compiles data manually and/or electronically, assists in review of case report forms and performs case report form queries. Sample collection tasks will include drawing the participants’ blood, processing samples through centrifugation and pipetting, labeling each specimen correctly, as well as safely transporting and storing blood samples.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Theoretical knowledge in Biology, Neuroscience, Psychiatry or a related field.
Must possess a current California Phlebotomy certificate.
Previous experience in a clinical/patient based research environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of general laboratory techniques such as pipetting, measuring and operation of laboratory equipment.
Proven ability to recognize specific laboratory results and identify abnormal values such as high triglyceride level (>500mg/dL) or high potassium level (7.0mmL/L).
Knowledge of medical terminology, especially clinical terminology related to HIV.
Computer (PC and Mac) knowledge to effectively use spreadsheets, databases, word processing programs, and electronic mail, and navigate the internet. Experience using MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word and databases (i.e., Filemaker Pro, JMP/SAS).
Experience and demonstrated skill in processing serum, plasma, and lymphocytes from whole blood derived from research subjects.
Proven ability to accurately enter data into a laboratory data management computer program.
Demonstrated ability to retrieve specimens from bio-repository for assays or shipments upon request. This includes conducting a large-scale database search for available specimens.
Demonstrated knowledge of separation techniques to isolate CSF cells and lymphocytes from research subject derived specimens.
Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique and of universal precautions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of UCSD Laboratory Procedures and requirements for biological specimen handling.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

- Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as vacuum ovens, filtration, rotovap, fume hood, and balances among others.
