SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) serves as the commercial representative for Smithers Cannabis Testing Services division and is directly responsible for planning, directing and executing an industry-based field sales strategy; delivering profitable sales growth for his/her state; and visiting clients face-to-face to build trusted relationships and customer loyalty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Primary objective is driving orders and establishing market share dominance for the Smithers Cannabis Testing Services lab.
- Demonstrates expertise in selling 3rd party testing services and aptitude to comprehend complex science-based issues specific to the cannabis industry
- Engages existing as well as prospective clients through face-to-face interactions with a heightened emphasis on new, prospective client engagement
- Creates a culture of competitiveness and winning; sets a high bar for competitive account conversions
- Sets the strategic direction for key accounts; prioritizes and builds successful account plans, competes to secure maximum portion of annual spend
- Fosters a collaborative selling culture inclusive of peers, marketing personnel as well as Subject Matter Experts (SME)
- Utilizes Infor CRM system to track opportunities; embraces Sales Job Aids for opportunity management
- Adheres to the Smithers tenets of sales: 1) Prepare for Customer Engagements; 2) Assess Opportunities; 3) Manage Strategic Accounts; 4) Forecast the Business
- Communicates and works to resolve client satisfaction concerns
- Develops sales section of annual operating plan for accounts and industries
- Identifies and understands trends in the marketplace; communicates competitive situations at clients or within industry

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree business, marketing, communications, or related field
- Advanced Degree (Master’s or MBA) preferred
- Minimum five years’ experience in B2B sales
- Experience in cannabis, agrochemical, environmental science, or pharma is a significant advantage
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- 70% out-of-office travel
- Visiting clients at their site(s); hosting clients at Smithers Cannabis Testing Services lab
- Attending industry and professional trade meetings and conferences

Laboratory Technician
Position Overview:
Seeking competent and team oriented Laboratory Technician to join state of the art Laboratory providing analytical services to the medical cannabis industry
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for operating the Laboratory’s analytical equipment and utilizing their basic knowledge of gas and liquid chromatography, extraction procedures, and organic chemistry to successfully produce analytical results for cannabis and cannabis products while maintaining a high quality standard.
Major Areas of Responsibility include:
- Design, monitor, and execute studies for new methods and existing sample matrices.
- Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and applicable government regulations in the industry.
- Work as part of a team to coordinate and meet production schedules and take a leadership role on new development projects.
- Accurately weigh, label, and store materials and identify and report any deviations.
- Manage inventory of raw materials and record data management software platforms.
- Develop and update SOPs to ensure safety, quality, and process control.
- Understand and safely handle hazardous materials and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on associated equipment.
- Monitor and manage lab and processing supplies.
- Contribute toward an inclusive and positive workplace culture.
- Exemplify good verbal and written communication skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related discipline plus two years of analytical experience; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, food, beverage and/or cannabis industries.
- Strong background in chromatography and other analytical methods.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and inventory tracking systems experience.
- Comfortable handling confidential information and being in a hands-on, start-up environment.
- Good math and conversion skills.
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn and improve.
- Availability to work occasional weekends and holidays.
- Some travel may be required for training purposes.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or State ID card.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must pass all required background checks.
