About the role: The purpose of this position is to provide guidance, direction, and insight to the growing staff, oriented toward the hands-on aspects of growing. Through experience and training, the individual could eventually direct any or all aspects of the growing process. This is a full-time salaried exempt position with benefits. The schedule varies depending upon the needs of the department.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consistently deliver high-quality mushroom crops.
- Production forecasting. Monitor quality and inventory of raw materials.
- Supervise hourly employees.
- Monitor, maintain, and improve cost efficiencies via Lean Six Sigma.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, GMPs, Food Safety, and sanitation policies.
- Maintain monthly pesticide and food safety documentation.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in weekly reports in the functional work area
- Complete work orders and ensure work is done in a timely manner
- Obtain a pesticide applicators license.
- Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and training direct reports.
- Is responsible for reviewing performance and administering corrective action.
- Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards.
- Responsible for monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance.
- Observes and practice safety and housekeeping procedures at all times. Attends and/or conducts Safety Meetings.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Direct Reports: General Laborers, Irrigators, Equipment Operators
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required:
- Demonstrated leadership qualities; must be a team player.
- Good interpersonal skills for effective communications with management, peers, and subordinates.
- High School Diploma required
Desired:
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
- B.S. degree in biological/agricultural sciences.
- Some experience in the cultivation of mushrooms preferred
- 2 years in agriculture or study of agriculture preferred.

ABOUT THE ROLE: We are seeking Growing Manager to lead our Production Department. This role is responsible for ensuring the daily functions of the operation are running smoothly, while also ensuring production goals are met.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas of the Production Department
- Monitor all expenses incurred; plan, develop, and control the annual Growing Department budget
- Continually review with Growing and production hallway personnel, their performance requirements and work together to create cost saving measures and/or ideas to improve production and quality and to include accurate record keeping relating to crop parameters, inventory, and raw materials usages and deliveries
- Stay current with new technologies and trends in the mushroom industry
- Foster effective and engaging communication with all facility departments and within the company so as to reach safety, production and quality goals
- Enforce and comply with all GMP/HACCP and Safety rules and regulations
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Manage Growing and Production Hallway Department hiring, training, counseling, and promotions
- Attend and/or conduct meetings as required
- Participate in training development courses
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong practical math skills
- Strong computer skill, especially pertaining to Excel
- Strong financial and business skills
Required:
- At least 10 years of management or supervisory experience
- Over 10 years of combined mushroom production experience
- Desired:
- BS in Agricultural Science or related field
- Bilingual English/Spanish
