Overview:
This role is to oversee the greenhouse environment, and overall crop quality at our GoGreen Patterson facility. This includes monitoring seeding, transplant, finishing, biological applications, and overall crop quality. This also includes physically and remotely monitoring overall function of the greenhouse environment as it affects the quality and safety of our crop. The primary objective is to ensure that the greenhouse is maximizing its production potential, both in terms of volume and quality. Monitoring quality of our crop means that the plants are getting the proper watering, nutrition, environmental conditions, and biological applications to control disease and pests. Any significant issues relating to greenhouse performance/equipment issues, quality, watering (excessive or not enough), and pest pressure should be reported to the manager and grower immediately, as well as an end of week written report and map detailing the issues.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maximize yields, and quality of the plants at the Patterson facility
- Monitor greenhouse operations and recommend corrective actions where needed
- Coordinate with GH personnel on spraying, scouting, and proper irrigation of plants
- Review scheduled sprays, application rates, and appropriateness based on observations of pest and disease pressure.
- Audit scheduled scouting tasks and recorded information
- Stay up to date with the latest greenhouse best practices
- Review, record, and report production and quality in all greenhouses
- Continuously develop new strategies to improve efficiency and quality of the plants
- Maintain continuous communication and a trusting relationship with management and facility supervisors, and achieve goals with or without direct supervision.
- Communicate directions clearly with your team
- Embrace company culture and work well with all others ESSENTIAL TASKS
- Calibrate thermometers, scales, and other instruments at scheduled frequency
- Calibrate/Check pH, EC, and temp probes in nursery and finishing tanks
- Check/record conductivity of propagation nutrients (daily) and notify manager and grower if incorrect
- Monitor greenhouse and equipment for any possible sources of contamination and react appropriately
- Perform and record quality checks in greenhouse
- Daily greenhouse critical system checks
- Document and report any unusual plant quality or greenhouse issues to facility supervisors, manager, and grower immediately
- Report any obvious broken items, unusual noises or major leaks in the greenhouse (daily)
- Document/report any large areas of standing water
- Take pictures of any unusual pests captured and report to manager and grower
- Verify that:
- biological controls are applied on propagation and greenhouse properly
