About Accugentix:
Accugentix is a small startup located in Naples, Florida that was started by a recent graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University. Our goal is to help patients properly measure medical cannabis. We have resources available to help patients figure out their dose of cannabis and how to measure that dose. This started as a simple app called the “CBD Hemp Oil Calculator App” on the App Store and Google Play Store. We took this off the App Stores last year and created a WordPress website “Accu-Hemp.com”. In addition to the app/online resources, we are developing a hand-held measuring device that will automate the measuring of medical cannabis oils and tinctures (https://accugentix.com/our-products/). This system will include cartridges of medical cannabis and an automated measuring device.
As we continue on the development of our hand-held device, we would like to re-vamp the Accu-Hemp website into a React.js/Node.js web app. Please look through the https://accu-hemp.com website before you continue reading the details below.
Project 1 Details:
Our current website is a WordPress site (https://accu-hemp.com) with multiple paid WordPress add-ons and the use of an SQL database. We currently use woocommerce, various quiz and questionnaire addons, and addons to link the quizzes to our SQL database. It is not sustainable or flexible enough for where we want the go in the future.
We would like to hire an intern to create a React.js/Node.js web application that has the same layout and function as our current website (https://accu-hemp.com). This will include creating the front end using React.js, the back end of the web app (preferably using Node.js), and the databases (i.e. Firebase, AWS). We would like for it to have the same appearance and function as our current WordPress site, but if you have any suggested improvements we will be open to them. Please thoroughly look through the website to get the full scope of what you will be creating.
The most important parts of our website are:
- The Dose quiz
- The Product Filter quiz
- The Measurement quiz
- Product page
- All of our other pages are simple web pages or pages that include simple forms.
Please note:
- Our quizzes are dynamic and are linked to the databases
- The quizzes also calculate outputs based on user inputs (measurement quiz).
- We have a products page, but all of our products have external links, we are not an ecommerce site so you do not have to worry about creating an online store.
Since this is a Summer internship, we are hoping this project won’t take any longer than 2 to 3 months to complete. We will be using a project planner (i.e. Trello) to keep track of the progress of the project. We will also have a Phone/Zoom meeting weekly or biweekly for updates. This internship will include a minimum payment of $500 when the project is completed satisfactorily. Depending on the amount of effort and the quality of the web app, it could be more than $500. When we pay you, you will be considered an “independent contractor” and will need to fill out a W-9 form for tax purposes. Please note that you have to be US citizen to fill out a W-9 tax form.
Please only apply if you feel like this is something you are capable of completing in a 2-3 month time period. We welcome beginners, but would prefer someone who at least has some experience coding in JavaScript; i.e. from a previous job, a coding class, doing a class project, teaching yourself, etc.
Future Projects:
There will be future projects to work on after Project 1 is complete. So if you would like to continue your internship into Fall we will also pay for Project 2 and for Project 3.
- Project 2: Add User Accounts to the web app/database, and also add features for our paid users (i.e. save dose and measurement information, and manually add in dose information into a calendar).
- Project 3: React web app converted to a React Native app so that it can be available on the App Store and Google Play Store.
