As a key member of the IT Group, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
- Repair PC and server hardware failures.
- Maintain and update servers and associated systems and hardware.
- Program new EDD and report templates to meet client requirements.
- Provide assistance with and training in the use of LIMS/DM software in cases where others are unable to resolve.
- Program new quality control automation, instrument/LIMS interfaces, and LIMS user interfaces.
- Manage and maintain supplies of computer hardware.
- Ensure computer systems are adequately backed up.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Our Durham, NC facility is currently seeking a Full-Time Laboratory Technician I in GCMS.
A Laboratory Technician I is responsible for performing tasks required to meet the expectations of our clients, in addition to efficiently and profitably generating defensible data in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.g. chemicals).
Role and Responsibilities
- Cleaning of sampling equipment
- Preparation of sampling equipment for prep orders
- Preparation of samples for analysis
- Weighing samples for analysis
- Assisting with loading canisters and samples for analysis
- Maintaining clean laboratory areas
- Maintaining organized records of equipment cleaning and sample prep
- Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
- Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables and parts for instrumentation

We are looking for a Master Grower to manage a large-scale indoor grow operation in the RDU area including performing all the tasks in the grow including: cloning, transplanting, feeding plants, defoliation, super cropping, topping, flushing, foliar and preventative sprays, trimming, packaging, waste disposal and inventory management. Company operates under the highest standards of professionalism.
DUTIES:
* Manage a large-scale warehouse with various grow lights.
* Perform all the tasks in the grow including: cloning, transplanting, feeding plants, defoliation, super cropping, topping, flushing, foliar and preventative sprays, trimming, packaging, waste disposal and inventory management.
* Develop and/or maintain grow warehouse protocols and nutrient regiment.
* Manage marijuana plants, giving each individual plant the attention it needs one at a time.
* Manage plant scheduling and organization to precisely project all garden needs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to keep garden green and expenses low.
* Cataloging and analyzing each individual strain from clone to flower to harvesting.
* Cloning and manage vegetation with at least a 90% success rate.
* Execute preventative maintenance and elimination of all types of mold, powdery mildew, spider mites, root aphids, fungus gnats, etc.
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
* Mastery of Ebb & Flow, DWC and Aeroponics growing methods, including in-depth knowledge of PH; PPM and EC counts.
* Mastery of Soil growing methods including micronutrients, beneficial bacteria and nutrient implementation.
* Working knowledge in container systems with soil and hydro as well as understanding temperature and humidity manipulation.
* Expert knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment options
* Well researched in new techniques and insight to expand knowledge in nutrient of individual strains, high yield recipes, controlled stress environments to different lighting systems and set ups.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Strains; Sativa, Indica and Hybrids and mastery of medicinal implementation and knowledge of effects of strains and types of medicinal administration.
* Assist state and local government auditors and law enforcement with inventory, sales and compliance audits.

This position will require that you work with controlled substances. Adherence to all associated rules and regulations are mandatory.
Your responsibilities will include the preparation of samples from chemical and botanical compounds, including cannabis and tobacco products, to be used for analysis and shipment to researchers.
This will require the operation of smoking machines used to collect smoke condensate and constituents in tobacco mixtures (shisha) and cigarettes, for analysis. After appropriate training, you will perform laboratory skills including solution and standard preparations, dilutions, extractions, pH analysis, titrations, and chromatography (HPLC, GC) used for qualitative and quantitative analyses.
Additionally, you will:
- Work with team members to plan and execute project tasks to meet established timelines
- Maintain Laboratory Notebooks where applicable
- Record data and results as specified in documentation procedures
- Follow safety requirements and maintain good housekeeping of lab areas
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instrumentation
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors level degree in chemistry or related discipline, or an Associates level degree in chemistry or related discipline and 3 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of analytical chemistry.
- Experience with basic lab equipment (pipet, balance, glassware).
- Must have good attention to detail, basic problem solving, communication and good documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a regulated (FDA, DEA) environment and be compliant with SOPs, study plans, laboratory safety requirements, and other RTI mandated procedures.

LEAD GROWER/GREENHOUSE TECHNICIAN
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This is skilled gardening work propagating and cultivating a variety of native perennials, grasses, shrubs, trees, and other plants as well as maintaining and managing the holding stock of the native plant nursery. An employee in this position is responsible for the proper temperature control of the structures and open holding areas. Work is performed largely individually, with assistance from garden center employees and under the management of the nursery operations manager.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
Maintains greenhouse and nursery as a functioning propagation facility, including buildings, hoop houses and cold frames; propagates plants by budding, layering, or dividing in a greenhouse or cold frames; cultivates plants by watering, applying fertilizers, and regulating temperatures by ventilation and heating controls; maintains all plants stored on site that are not in active retail.
Makes soil mixes; makes cuttings; plants, transplants and prunes a wide variety of flowers, shrubs, trees and other plants in the greenhouse and nursery.
Develops nursery maintenance and propagation systems and oversees their implementation
Works with the nursery operations manager to ensure the consistent, quality supply of plant stock to the nursery and its affiliated landscaping businesses
Has at minimum a working knowledge of native plants and actively works to expand that knowledge base
Maintains and manages nursery equipment and supplies
Maintains an accurate, live inventory of all plants involved in the growing program with the help of the operations manager and garden center employees

The National QA Director oversees quality management systems for all of Enthalpy’s laboratories and service centers. This position is responsible for covering all aspects of internal audit activity and aims to provide leadership reasonable assurance that work performed by the department conforms with audit methodology and meets quality standards (e.g., industry standards and regulatory requirements). The National QA Director role is expected to independently own audit quality assurance activities and execute timely deliverables, regionally and nationally, while also contributing to the advancement of departmental objectives.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee two Regional Quality Assurance Directors and support staff (~30)
- Assure that all laboratories are operating under QMSs that assure compliance with regulatory requirements for the affected labs and assure that data produced by each laboratory meets the needs of Enthalpy’s customers
- Work toward harmonization of QMSs where appropriate. Assure that all QMSs meet minimum levels of specificity, are current regarding ongoing updates, and that each QAU is engaging in activities that result in continual improvement for their laboratory.
- Design and implement improvements in data quality and operational efficiency in quality management systems
- Verify QA groups operate independently from production and financial pressures that might impact data quality.
- Design and implement training for QA personnel
- Manage ethics and data integrity training program
- Assure that each laboratory is compliant with corrective action and preventive action plans and timelines.

As a key member of the Durham Laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive thermal desorption samples
- Log-in samples using laboratory database
- Review and reconcile samples received and chain-of-custody
- Communicate to Project Manager sample status including samples received or expected to be received
- Maintain sample thermal desorption sample storage and disposal records
- Maintain sample storage archive area and accurate records
- Prepare thermal desorption sampling supplies for shipment to clients
- Maintain inventory of thermal desorption media
- Maintain sampling media history in tube tracking database.
- Clean thermal desorption tubes and verify acceptable cleanliness using TD/GC/MS.

A Laboratory Technician I is responsible for performing tasks required to meet the expectations of our clients, in addition to efficiently and profitably generating defensible data in a timely manner. We are currently seeking an entry-level Chemist/Laboratory Analyst to provide sample preparation and analytical support to our tobacco research and drug characterization studies. This position will require that you work with controlled substances. Adherence to all associated rules and regulations are mandatory.
Your responsibilities will include the preparation of samples from chemical and botanical compounds, including cannabis and tobacco products, to be used for analysis and shipment to researchers.
This will require the operation of smoking machines used to collect smoke condensate and constituents in tobacco mixtures (shisha) and cigarettes, for analysis. After appropriate training, you will perform laboratory skills including solution and standard preparations, dilutions, extractions, pH analysis, titrations, and chromatography (HPLC, GC) used for qualitative and quantitative analyses.
Additionally, you will:
- Work with team members to plan and execute project tasks to meet established timelines
- Maintain Laboratory Notebooks where applicable
- Record data and results as specified in documentation procedures
- Follow safety requirements and maintain good housekeeping of lab areas
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instrumentation
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors level degree in chemistry or related discipline, or an Associates level degree in chemistry or related discipline and 3 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of analytical chemistry.
- Experience with basic lab equipment (pipet, balance, glassware).
- Must have good attention to detail, basic problem solving, communication and good documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a regulated (FDA, DEA) environment and be compliant with SOPs, study plans, laboratory safety requirements, and other RTI mandated procedures.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.

Position Summary:
The Scientific Affairs Manager will provide dedicated support to the Market Access initiative for the AMERICAS Industry Scientific Affairs Team. The successful applicant is expected to work with the Sr. Director, Scientific Affairs to:
- Enhance bioMérieux’s role as a leading supplier of Food Safety and Quality testing in the US and the Americas.
- Set the direction and focus for improving the bioMĂ©rieux sphere of influence with the North American government agencies and the test kit validation agencies including but not limited to the AOAC, Public Health Canada, and the USFDA.
- Increase the understanding of evolving market needs, especially as it relates to the microbiology test kit validations, in various segments of Food Safety and Quality testing including (but not limited to) the Nutraceutical, Dairy, Beverage, Animal Protein, Cannabis, and Service Laboratory.
More specifically, the position entails work in three dimensions:
- Test kit validations: strategic planning, coordination, and execution of the microbiology test kit validations and approvals
- Networking: increase bioMĂ©rieux network and influence as measured by the success of the external representation among various stakeholders and the overall contribution to the marketing activities.
- Beta-activities: as measured by the segment-based influence on the product development pipeline especially the microbiology test kit validations.
Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with bioMĂ©rieux US and global teams to achieve agreement on AOAC objectives.
- Strategically plan and budget for external test kit validations.

- Serve as AOAC Study Director for AOAC RI and OMA test kit validations.
- For each bioMĂ©rieux test kit validation study: finalize study site proposals/agreements, purchase orders/invoices, study logistics, supplies and preparing final manuscripts for review and approval.
- Key initiative to be engaged with industry and government stakeholders by serving on special committees and positioning for task group appointments. Demonstrate leadership to the constituency and community stakeholders in these organizations.
- Facilitate influence building with the regulatory/public Health agencies, pertinent academic institutions, and key industry members, including at the C-suite level.
- Generate data with a goal to inform the product development pipeline especially on needs for new microbiology test kit validations.
- Generate data to inform the evolving industry trends including niche markets such as (such as but not limited to) plant-based proteins, cell-based foods, and new beverages. Consistently communicate findings within the US Food Management especially on such new opportunities and trends.
Studies and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or postgraduate work in Food Science, Microbiology or Molecular Biology preferred.
- At least 10+ years of management experience with sales or Food Quality and Safety organizations or equivalent experience within bioMĂ©rieux.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of the international microbiology testing guidelines, government microbiology testing, and food safety regulations.
- Prior experience with the microbiology test method validation and standardization organization is a must.

We operated as Eastern Carolina Organics for 15 years, focusing solely on Carolina organic farmers. In 2019 we re-branded to Happy Dirt to scale up our ability to serve customers and farmers by building up the organic produce supply chain beyond our state borders. We are as committed as ever to building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with the hundreds of farmers and wholesale buyers that we now partner with throughout North America.
Happy Dirt’s unique and authentic way of partnering with farmers is a major industry differentiator. The Grower Services Coordinator will improve upon the holistic and specific ways that Happy Dirt seeks to support farmers. This position will serve as a liaison to our farmers, offering assistance with topics such as production planning, forecasting, on-farm quality control, generational transition planning, accessing off-farm resources such as grants, and more. This position will also serve as a forager for the Happy Dirt team, seeking out the best quality produce from farmers with the highest of integrity. Happy Dirt works with non-organic producers, with a special preference for farmers who may be a good fit for organic production in the future.
This is a great opportunity for someone with wholesale organic vegetable farming experience who is no longer farming but seeks to continue to engage with farmers and support the organic food system.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Ensure stellar relationships between Happy Dirt and our farmers
- Recruit and develop new growers and supply opportunities in conjunction with category manager’s direction
- Cultivate and actualize the potential of the Happy Dirt farmer network
- Develop improved strategy for engaging with farmers on a day-to-day basis
- Work with the purchasing team to create annual production plans
- Work with the quality and purchasing teams to prevent and react to crop quality concerns
- Share data and analytics across the farmer network to improve success on the farm
- Connect farmers with food safety and other critical training resources while supporting Happy Dirt food safety protocols and certifications
- Work with farmers to improve forecasting skills and streamline real-time data
Qualifications:
- Passionate advocate for farmers
- Experience in wholesale organic vegetable farming, including post-harvest handling
- Great communication skills, be detail-oriented and a self-starter
- Have demonstrated interest, knowledge and understanding of issues related to sustainable agriculture and holistic farming practices
- Experience in creating and implementing an organic farm plan
- Ability to communicate well with others in verbal and written form
- Ability to travel locally and regionally
Compensation/Salary:
$50-60k commensurate with experience
