A DAY IN THE LIFE
Enthalpy Analytical, part of a larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 9 laboratories servicing air, water, soil, tobacco, cannabis, and toxicology testing. Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.
Our Deer Park (Houston area), TX facility is currently seeking a Full-Time Sample Custodian Technician.
Pay Rate: $17-$18
Sample Custodian technicians are responsible for ensuring that samples received by Enthalpy are received, documented, and stored correctly. They are usually the first point of contact between the clients’ samples and the laboratory and are responsible for immediately notifying the Laboratory Project Manager as to receipt, volume, preservation, labeling, and any discrepancies that could affect the laboratory’s ability to efficiently meet the expectations of our clients. Sample Custodian Technicians are also responsible for receiving incoming chemicals, standards and consumable supplies for the laboratory.
Role and Responsibilities
- Courier samples and/or sampling supplies to and from the lab
- Receipt and intake of samples and supplies
- Review and reconciliation of samples received and chain-of-custody
- Communicate sample status to Project Managers for samples received/expected to be received
- Maintain and prepare field sampling supplies
- Maintain sample storage, archive, disposal, and records
- Prepare sampling supplies for shipment to clients
- Outgoing shipping
- Maintain inventory and maintenance for sampling canisters and sampling orifices
- Preparation and/or analysis of samples
- Disposal of hazardous waste according to Enthalpy’s waste disposal plan and all local, State and Federal requirements.
- Assist in updating SOPs related to sample handling
- Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies
- Other duties as assigned by Project Manager or Lab Director

Our Deer Park, TX Lab is currently seeking at Analyst I to join our team. Analysts perform chemical measurements and other tasks to meet the expectations of our clients by efficiently and profitably generating defensible data on time.
Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00
As a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
- Quantitative sample analysis
- Preparation of data summaries for inclusion in client reports
- Sample and standard preparation
- Instrument calibration, validation, and method development
- Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis, equipment maintenance and data collected off site
- Maintain consumables and parts for instruments
- Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
- Communicating relevant updates to applicable people in a timely manner
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the Company
- Compliance with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies
- Compliance with Company’s Health and Safety Plan
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field

- They should be able to describe the operation of the instrument or the chemistry involved in the assays they perform.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of EPA stationary source and ambient air analytical methods and associated instrumentation, general lab practices and lab safety
- Well organized and have an attention to detail
- Good organization and communication skills
- Previous experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Agilent GC and GC/MS systems
- Desire to work part of a team and independently

Our Deer Park, TX Laboratory is currently seeking a Full-Time QA Associate to join our team. The QA Associate is an entry level role, assisting in ensuring that the laboratory’s data and Quality Assurance system meets regulatory and client requirements, with the goal of producing data of known and documented quality.
As a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
- Perform peer and final review of environmental testing data
- Compile final reports, narrating deviations and outliers
- Collect, review, and interpret laboratory quality control data for performance and trends (logbooks, control charts, method detection and quantitation limit studies, performance testing samples)
- Organize and control laboratory documents, including procedures, forms, training records, and archived data
- Monitor the status of other quality assurance elements, such as support equipment calibrations
- Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Plans
- Other duties as assigned
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
