Verano NJ is a licensed operator of cannabis cultivation, processing, retail facilities in New Jersey, and we are looking to add passionate, exceptional talent to our Branchburg cultivation and processing facility!
Job Summary:
The Packaging Manager is responsible for overseeing the packaging department in assembling, packaging, and preparing our products for delivery to licensed dispensaries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee assembly and packaging of products and managing personnel.
- Delegate responsibilities and train personnel on standard operating procedure (SOP).
- Weigh, assemble, and package products according to SOP.
- Restock supplies as needed throughout the shift.
- Clean, sanitize, and organize equipment and workspace.
- Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to industry and company specifications.
- Inspect and remove defective products and packaging materials.
- Ensure that production schedules are met with deadlines.
- Coordinate operations and schedules of personnel.
- Interview, hire, and train personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Previous management/supervisory experience in a regulated field that adheres to health and safety policies and procedures required.
- Must be able to follow SOP.
- Must be able to stand for at least 6 hours per day and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be able to successfully register with the state's cannabis commission as an agent.
- Must be able to comply with all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 year(s) of management/supervisory experience preferred.
- Operations or performance improvement skill sets preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, packaging, and/or warehouse is a plus.
Physical and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move and/or position oneself, communicate, operate and/or prepare, place, position objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally move packages weighing up to 25 lb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close observation and the ability to adjust focus. We have an exciting opportunity to add a cultivation manager to our hemp operations in Puerto Rico. The cultivation manager will oversee all horticulture related operations to ensure the achievement of production goals related to plant health, operations' efficiency and ensure timelines and production goals are met. The cultivation manager is responsible for all of the operations and functions of the planting beds and greenhouses ensuring plant health as well as managing irrigation, fertigation and mitigation of adverse events, while reducing plant loss. This opportunity is based in Puerto Rico.Job Responsibilities & Duties (include but are not limited to)
- Responsible and manages day-to-day facility operations, cleanliness, and improvements and all aspects of hemp cultivation.
- Responsible for assessing and requesting permanent and temporary labor as needed
- Develop and maintain cultivation protocols, task schedules, and nutrient schedules
- Participates and understands development of production protocols
- Understand irrigation, spraying and fertilizing protocols and provide direction and supervise team members executing these tasks accordingly
- Evaluates crop protection needs and participate in pest management programs.
- Manage all supply and equipment ordering to ensure that all cultivation needs are met and required supplies are stocked.
- Ensure that each plant from seed/clone to harvest is catalogued and tracked according to state compliance guidelines
- Implement procedures that maximize safety, assure consistent maintenance and sanitation of all equipment.
Critical Knowledge
- Familiarity with proper moisture and irrigation management techniques.
- Familiarity with proper nutrient management and testing procedures.
- Ability to identify common crop insect and disease problems
- Ability to observe crop stress signs
Skills
- Work independently and as a part of the team
- Accurately gather and record data
- Work outdoors (year-round), in greenhouse and field environments
- Learn and use a variety of computer software (including Microsoft Excel, etc.)
- Possess familiarity with moisture and nutrient management procedures

- Ability to work flexible schedules, including periodic weekends.

- Communicate effectively, both verbally and written in English.

- Must be 21 years of age and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, turning and lifting to accomplish tasks routinely completed in an agricultural setting.
- Includes frequent repetitive motions of hands, wrists, arms, neck and torso
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Working Conditions
- Indoor – 25% of time. This can change depending on the projects and time of the year
- Outdoor – 75%. This can change depending on the projects and time of the year.
- High Temperatures – Ability to work in temperatures of up and over 90 degrees
- Hours may vary and weekend flexibility is a must
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or greater or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a hemp and/or cannabis production environment is highly desired; a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent will be considered.
- Three five years of proven cultivation or similar experience
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Advanced hemp and/or cannabis cultivation experience, including harvesting, and drying.
- Skill in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations in support of goals.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.), Google Spreadsheet, and Google Docs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized with attention to detail.
