Grower Service Advisor
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Grower Service Advisor, are to:
- Become responsible of elevating the service relationship with the Grower and Retail customers as it relates to specific grower programs;
- Provide value added support and services that enhance the customer experience and induce loyalty;
- Be accountable for Operational Excellence with Product Supply Program Management processes;
- Support the grower including alignment with third party tools, processes, and key systems;
- Collaborate across Product Supply, Marketing and Field Sales stakeholders;
- Develop relationship with 3rd party vendor to jointly understand complex data sharing, reconciling between tools/systems/reporting, and ultimately how this data impacts downstream processes/programs;
- Participate in cross-functional grower data related projects within or outside of the team;
- Understand and communicate key business processes and supporting information in multiple complex systems;
- Apply a continuous improvement mindset including best practices to simplify operational processes and ensure they are documented appropriately;
- Influence account behavior in support of program guidelines, adopt new processes, tools and systems;
- Manage research, resolution, documentation and communication for customer account issues and errors;

CANDIDATE PROFILE:
The position requires knowledge of written and spoken English. You hold a degree in agronomy or horticultural sciences and have 10 years of experience in horticulture or greenhouse work. You have good interpersonal and analytical skills; you are the person we are looking for!

Know your customer well: all facets of their operation which relate to DPG’s business: the customer’s personnel at all levels that are important to our business; all aspects of growing operations (crops, acreage, practices, irrigation, tissue, soil, and water quality, production yields, goals)
- Strong knowledge of California and Arizona agricultural practices as they pertain to your specific customer accounts and their crops, including expertise in water and soil quality, and plant nutrition. Based on your experience and knowledge, make recommendations to DPG management on changes / improvements to DPG programs, products, performance guidelines (e.g. tissue ranges, program dosage recommendations)
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with DPG customers (new and existing)which include relationships of trust and respect for your knowledge and expertise of DPG technology and capabilities. Define to DPG management your recommendations for the participation of other DPG personnel in this process
- Maintains a strong knowledge of all of DPG’s programs, products, and capabilities including preventative water treatment, food safety water treatment, surface water treatment, continuous fertigation, customer-applied fertigation, tissue and soil sampling services, and laboratory support services – all facets of the Deerpoint operation and how they work together (field service, chemistry, and equipment) – so as to maximize the opportunity with each and every new and existing customer to its fullest potential
- Communicate effectively and efficiently (face-to-face, texts, phone calls, emails) with your customers on the appropriate level of frequency as defined by their existing and future sales potential as DPG customers to maximize the customer relationship
- Schedules, organizes and executes DPG product presentations to new and existing customers on potential applications in a professional manner following approved DPG formats and in a timely manner
- Maximizes the sales potential of each existing customer by following up onleads from customers and recognizing opportunities for DPG based on excellent knowledge of DPG’s capabilities
- Researches and identifies new sales opportunities for DPG in California and Arizona, or in other geographical areas as assigned by management
- Conducts new site evaluations of existing and new customer potential business and develops clear and effective written proposals / quotes using approved DPG formats
- Writes and conducts with the customer periodic technical reports (water, soil, and tissue) and business reviews as appropriate. Defines DPG executive management’s role, as well as the role of other DPG personnel, in this process
- Participate in the guarantee that DPG makes to its customers on program performance by periodic review of that performance via internal reports and working with management in field operations to correct deficiencies (investigate problems, develop solutions, and provide follow-up service)
- Supply DPG management with oral and written reports on all phases of your customer interaction including customer needs / opportunities, proposals, program updates, business reviews, YTD sales, problems, and solutions
- Work closely with field sales and service representatives and management, laboratory and field samplers to maximize customer satisfaction. This includes providing written and oral direction and reports
- Stays involved with relevant industry organizations and trade associations, and attend industry events, as appropriate. Make recommendations for DPG’s participation in relevant industry events based on your own research. Make recommendations for, develop, and participate in the development of literature, promotions, trade exhibits, print media, etc. to promote DPG programs and sales. Effectively performs special assignments and projects as requested by leadership
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Nutrition or other life sciences
- PCA, CCA, and QAL preferred
- Two to three years of field experience in plant nutrition
- Soil science, or other agricultural related science
- Technical understanding of plant nutrition is essential
