GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for managing and directing the facilities and operational functions of the production arm of SPARC, with a focus on internal supply chain management; including: post harvest services, manufacturing and packaging, inventory control and logistics. Provide technical and engineering expertise to diagnose and solve problems relating to the operations; develop project plans, cost estimates and justification; and, manage projects to completion. Organize and direct management in Inventory Compliance and the Processing, Manufacturing and Distribution licenses. Partner with the Director of Product to plan and schedule all aspects of packaging, manufacturing and production for retail. Must maintain outstanding communication with these teams and make on-going efforts to identify appropriate opportunities to safely optimize work and spot trends via predictive techniques. This position is hands-on with the expectation that the individual assists in all production oversight functions to include the management of teams and processes.

- Oversee managers across Processing, Manufacturing and Distribution licenses to accomplish maximum efficiency, ensuring projects at each facility/department are being completed on time and in a cost effective manner.
- Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of multiple departments in collaboration with department managers.
- Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
- Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
- Drive and follow-on improvements to the ERP system functionality in order to facilitate better decision making and efficiency.
- Develops and directs the process of detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, at sites, and in manufacturing.
- Maintains required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production.
- Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.

- Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.
- Participates as an advisory member of the Product team, providing information and guidance.
- Ensure safe and proper operation of equipment, by developing and overseeing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; arranging for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Determine the most cost effective approach for reliability and longevity of equipment and systems while achieving all SPARC safety and compliance expectations.
- Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met.
- Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
- Assists chief operating officer with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: B.S preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience; minimum of 5 years in manufacturing and operations leadership. LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to understand, plan and execute dramatic change in manufacturing structure, systems and philosophy. Must be detail oriented while able to conceive, implement and operate systems and processes. Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a cooperative, cross-functional, participative environment. Demonstrated effectiveness in motivating and executing against objectives, policies and procedures through subordinates, including non-exempt associates. Strong operational excellence background required and is customer focused. Experience in low volume/high mix manufacturing.Experience in the cannabis industry highly desirable. Must be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background check.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work may require prolonged sitting/standing, often bending, stooping and stretching. This individual will be running daily operations at a brand new state of the art cannabis grow and manufacturing facility and needs to have a solid understanding in production operations and can directly oversee teams leading packaging, manufacturing, etc. Initially, this hire will have 3-4 direct reports (Quality Assurance, Safety and Purchasing) and will oversee their manufacturing operations.

WPL has an immediate opening for a highly industrious and proactive individual to become our Director of Operations for processing and production at our cultivation facility in Adrian, Michigan. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Operations is responsible for developing and executing strategies that support production and operational processes, staffing plans, compliance procedures, and team member management. In addition, this individual will understand the business metrics, execute efficiently, be flexible and driven, and lead a large team of talented, diligent and effective personnel to ensure that business and operational standards are consistently met.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for all post-harvest activities including, but not limited to trimming, curing, quality control, packaging, product transfer facilitation, testing, waste processing/reporting and inventory control.
- Assess current SOPs, identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions through scaling processes, systems, and people.
- Motivate and lead a high-performance operations team; attracting, recruiting, training, and retaining value added team members.
- Assure daily compliance with company policies including but not limited to: state/local regulation compliance, security protocols, access protocols, facility maintenance, and work schedules
- Develop and lead the Compliance Team to monitor and maintain proper inventory processes, controls, and audits using METRC and ensuring full compliance with all state regulations related to inventory and plant/product tracking and inventory.
- Effectively manage and maintain relevant facility records according to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Work closely with the Director of Cultivation and the Management Team to assure that production, processing and scheduling plans align with the cultivation and product forecast.
- Maintain a strong presence in the facility to effectively coach and support operations teams and cross function communications.
- Set and analyze performance expectations and production goals for the department, including output levels, recordkeeping, and quality control.
- Create work schedules and flow for both weekday and weekend work allowing for adequate coverage for regular and holiday schedules
- Oversee the maintenance and facilities objectives, upholding the highest levels of cleanliness, sterilization, and overall sanitation of the facility’s functional areas.
- Create/implement/maintain post-harvest best practices and compliant/effective standard operating procedures.
- Oversee processing, packaging, testing, inventory, and distribution resources for the site location with continuous improvement and quality reporting as well.
- Perform in-process and post-process quality assurance testing and conduct visual inspections to ensure the product meets or exceeds set quality standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA),
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA,) Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA,) and Worker Protection Standards (WPS).
Qualifications
