SunGrown is looking for a detail-oriented Director to lead our Lab and Facility Operations.
Responsibilities of the Director will include implementing and maintaining processes related to the preparation of final form products, wholesale distillate, and management of SunGown’s primary facility in White Springs, FL. The role will be responsible for the successful execution for people management, continuous improvement, daily facility management, and process of all production.
Create and Drive Business Value
- Lead the refinement and concentrate operations
- Enable sustainable growth and achieve financial objectives through increased efficiencies and process improvements.
- Work closely with other team members to manage product supply and our supply chain to ensure timely delivery of products
- Maintain compliance for all best practices and regulatory standards
Refinement/Concentrate Processing and Extraction
- Proven track record and in depth understanding of refinement and concentrate process and equipment.
- Ensure team goals align with strategic direction & execute them on time
- Ensure proper allocation of labor between different extraction and concentrate processes
- Actively recruit and retain top talent
- Train employees on best practices, inventory management, compliance, innovation, continuous improvement
- Manage lab team providing training and development through proper SOP's and hands on engagement
- Maintain compliance inventory tracking and systems regulations/policies
- Aid in the sourcing and implementation for equipment as it pertains to refinement, production, and extraction while ensuring scalability to meet growing demand
- Coordinate with the flower team to utilize available flower products to meet the needs of specific cannabis concentrate demands
- Coordinate with the inventory/production teams to understand specific needs in order to maintain an efficient and consistent supply of material.
- Execute all daily and weekly production schedules
- Standard operating procedures, quality controls & measures
- Quality Control and Continuous Improvement Capability
- Refinement and Lab team schedule & communication cadence
- Effective risk management processes
- Specific safety requirements for machine use and processing techniques
- Contingency plans to ensure business continuity plans
- Proper product & work-in-process tracking, movement, and product security

Experience in managing large teams
- Proven ability to lead, inspire, and motivate teamwork
- Proven ability to lead lean operations, quality improvement, and scale-up initiatives in an extraction and concentrates manufacturing operation
- Ability to effectively work with cross-functional partners to implement effective SOPs and scalable solutions
- Be a reliable resource in manufacturing projects
- Ability to plan and execute against demand/production schedules
- Demonstrated business acumen and professional presence; able to assess financial implications of decisions and actions; able to understand how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace and the potential impact to the company
- Have a proven track record of delivering results, leading people, and driving improvement all pertinent updates covering production rates, obstacles, needs to support the business
- Experience interacting with Director and VP levels of leadership
Balance priorities with constrained resources
- In a fast paced, every evolving industry, this leader must manage ambiguity masterfully
- Develop structure while operating in a continued startup and emerging environment
- Balance the many priorities and conflicts inherent in a rapidly evolving environment with high demand for inventory resources
- Identify and understand systems problems through regular and direct and indirect interaction with the systems users, employing feasibility studies and functionality analysis
- Ability to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization
Qualifications and Skills:
- Age 21 or over (Required)
- High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, Math or other related technical field and/or Business Administration (Strongly Preferred)
- Advanced degree in technology-related discipline and Business Administration preferred. Ideally has deep technical knowledge (Strongly Preferred)
- Proven success and experience in preparation of raw materials, cannabis refinement processes, and purification of cannabinoids and production of concentrate products.
- Proven experience in successfully leading large teams producing a variety of concentrate products through extraction and refinement methodologies
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact at executive level with persuasiveness and confidence
- Exceptional analytical skills in pertinent areas related to role of extraction, refinement, and concentrate product methods and techniques
- In-depth understanding of compliance laws for the Florida cannabis industry
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and time management skills Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- The person in this position frequently communicates with direct reports as well as various cross-functional partners. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- In Normal Travel conditions must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
