Government Compliance and Enforcement Division
(GCE) seeks applicants for an opening in its Liquor and Cannabis Board Section.
This position will represent the Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB), and may serve as a back up to other section clients. GCE represents LCB in its effort to promote public safety by enforcing the state’s liquor, cannabis and tobacco laws and regulations in cases involving licensed businesses.
Duties
GCE is a professional and inclusive work environment where teamwork, high quality legal service, and work-life balance are highly valued. GCE includes 50 attorneys and professional staff located in Olympia. The division's work includes a diverse mix of litigation and client advice. We provide legal services to nearly 40 state agencies, boards, and commissions, including those that protect citizens by regulating health care providers, insurers, liquor and marijuana establishments, gambling, campaign finance, ethics, financial institutions, and more. GCE offers the opportunity for client assignments to change over time and attorneys can gain experience with a wide variety of client agencies and areas of the law.
The successful candidate will be part of a section that includes 7 attorneys and a paralegal, and will represent LCB in licensing and enforcement actions. Section attorneys primarily litigate before the Office of Administrative Hearings, while also handling some cases in Superior Court and the state’s appellate courts under the judicial review provisions of the Administrative Procedure Act (APA). Duties include writing, presenting and responding to motions, interviewing and presenting witnesses, providing client advice related to the litigation, evaluating cases for settlement possibilities, and appearing for hearings.
These positions involves a high volume, fast-paced litigation caseload. The attorney must be able to prioritize and multi-task. A typical workday could include:
- Conducting research;
- Drafting pleadings;
- Interviewing witnesses;
- Attending status conferences or hearings;
- Consulting with supervisors or co-workers; or
- Meeting with a client.
Qualifications
In addition to meeting the requirements for to serve as an Assistant Attorney General, we seek an attorney who:

- Working with inventory and sales team to ensure seamless communication.
- Create manifests for all orders.
- Ensure that every order that leaves the building is 100% compliant from a track and trace standpoint.
- Manage bi-monthly physical inventories.

Island seeks a part-time Compliance Assistant to join our team in Redondo Beach. The Compliance Assistant will be tasked with aiding the Director of Policy & Compliance with maintaining regulatory compliance with MAUCRSA in all commercial cannabis facilities and in all company initiatives. The Compliance Assistant works interdepartmentally to support the Director to assure understanding of and adherence to company policies and procedures.*Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Director to have an expert level knowledge of MAUCRSA, Metrc, licensing, and regulatory requirements in order to act as a SME resource for all departments on a variety of subjects, including but not limited to, product development, facility build out, process changes, etc.
- Assists Director with conducting audits to ensure compliance with various regulatory bodies including, but not limited to the BCC, CDPH, City of Oakland, USDA, FDA, etc.
- Promotes operational and organizational compliance through proper implementations and the management of key relationships within the organization.
- Supports the Director with creating processes, problem solving, and executing projects with a focus on scalability.

- Organizes Director’s projects and calendars to keep projects on track. Schedules and drafts communications for compliance driven projects.
- Supports Operations and Production teams as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required, Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1+ years experience in a highly regulated industry; or 1+ years in licensed cannabis facility; or 1+ years experience in government or legal environment
- Technical writing experience required
- Strong communication, collaboration, and research skills required
- Compliance, inventory management, and other record keeping systems experience is a strong plus
- Prior experience working with regulatory agencies and local municipalities is preferred but not required

JOB SUMMARY
Cultivate Holdings, LLC is currently looking for a Compliance Assistant specializing in Marketing, Design and Print & Copy to work under the Director of Compliance. The Compliance Assistant will support compliance needs specific to marketing, design and print & copy. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
MARKETING
- Reviews and approves marketing initiatives and in-store campaigns for regulatory compliance.
- Submits marketing initiatives to the Cannabis Control Commission for proactive approvals
DESIGN
- Reviews and approves all design work for regulatory compliance
- Submits design work to the Cannabis Control Commission for proactive approvals
PRINT & COPY
- Works with Social Media and Customer Experience teams to review and approve all public-facing posts before go-live.
- Works with the Learning and Development team to review and approve any in-house training and development documents for regulatory compliance.
- Works with upper-management to create, review and/or modify documents drafted for submission to the Cannabis Control Commission.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in a regulatory compliance position, familiarity with state regulatory entities, and experience in the cannabis industry is a plus.
- Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to positively influence people; must be capable of effectively interacting at all levels in the organization.
- Detail-oriented with an eye on process optimization.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to manage high-stress situations, and to be flexible and adaptable when a situation requires it.
