Role Overview
The Director of Sales is responsible for the development and oversight of all wholesale activities to achieve maximum profitability and customer satisfaction. The Director of Sales will define and execute appropriate sales strategies; business development, and sales support programs to maximize sales and profitability for both short- and long-range goals including entering new local markets. Key market to start will be Arizona with potential opportunity to manage multiple U.S markets in near future: CA, MI, WA, OK and FL.
Major duties/responsibilities:
- Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals, closely with the company’s leadership team.
- Lead a team of Business Development Managers to deliver profitable growth
- Identify and build a pipeline of potential new customers, initiate and manage prospects through the sales pipeline, and then close these opportunities
- Maintain sales volumes by tracing changing trends, economic indicators, competitors and supply and demand.
- Manage the sales budget
- Present to executive team opportunities and challenges with solutions.
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
- Work closely with the marketing function to establish successful support, channel and partner programs.
- Provide guidance to sales team on troubleshooting assistance for customer orders, account status and relevant problems.
- Develop a network of key opinion leaders to understand trends
- Establish a long-term relationship with existing accounts.
- Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities.
- Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly/annual sales goals.
- Recruit Business Development Managers
- Complete regular market research on trends, pricing, problems and needs and report monthly.
- Manage promotions & deals with licensed cannabis dispensaries
- Gain customer feedback and insight on new product releases
- Ensure product inventory levels at dispensaries are in stock
Skills and Qualifications:
- A four-year degree in a business discipline and 10+ years leading a team and successful selling experience in consumer-packaged goods, cannabis experience a plus.
- Proven successful experience with building and refining selling processes and account management.
- Proven managerial experience including budget and team building and management.
- Demonstrated use of interpersonal skills, leadership, persistent and well organized.
- Fast learner, creative and able to work in a highly dynamic environment.
