1. Position Purpose
To assist the Store Manager in maximizing the sales and profits of an individual dispensary through the direct supervision of staff that interact with and serve customers with the highest levels of service and attention, and through control of expenses, while maintaining the highest standards of quality control, regulatory and company policy compliance, safety, cleanliness, compassion, product knowledge, and customer care.
Pay: $18-$19/hr plus tips.
2. Qualifications
- Effective communication with customers, staff, supervisors, and management team members.
- 1-2 years experience in a retail or fast paced customer service team oriented environment.
- Demonstrates customer service skills, product knowledge, and empathy.
- Demonstrates ability to manage through training, coaching, educating, and following standard operating procedures set forth by the company.
- Analytical skills and the ability to review sales and inventory related reports
- Demonstrates ability to complete paperwork and reports related to all aspects of the operation in a timely manner, including, but not limited to reports related to compliance with all applicable regulations related to cannabis and the sale thereof, human resource related issues, inventory functions, and remission of all required taxes.
- Has obtained a working knowledge of the attributes of the cannabis plant, and the desire to learn more about the same.
- Fosters teamwork and a team approach to problem solving and group activity.
3. Responsibilities and Duties
A. Management
- Monitor the amount of Medical MJ product on-site and ensure it remains under the legal thresholds established by the store’s current member count.
- Retain existing members and enlist new members whenever possible, up to the cap allowed by the current MMC license.
- Assist with weekly inventories as dictated by Company SOPs.
- Seek assistance when necessary.
- Oversee day to day compliance at the store as directed by the compliance team.
- Maintain product organization and ensure all incoming deliveries are correctly accepted into the store.
- Responsible for daily supervision of employees including training, coaching and delegating.
- Conducts performance appraisals.
- Recruits and selects employees pursuant to Company policy and selection criteria,
- Utilizes available training programs with more emphasis on in-dispensary, ongoing training.
- Ensures that subordinates receive motivational or coaching feedback in relation to their performance which is both timely and accurate.
- Promotes team building in the dispensary.
- Promotes an equal opportunity environment.
- Keeps aware of and complies with all federal, state and local laws and regulations governing the operation of the dispensary.
- Understands and ensures that company standards are met.
- Meets with other Company officers and employees to further team building and excellence
B. Merchandising
- Carries out product promotion as directed by Three Rivers Executive Management
- Assist the Store Manager in maximizing sales and profits through effective merchandising, ensuring proper stock levels through daily utilization of sales forecasting and ordering, and ensuring layouts and displays are in accordance with policy.
- Assists in compiling order requests which are sent to Upper Management for approval prior to placing any orders
- Monitors product expiration dates and coordinates specials with Executive Management when necessary to prevent product expiration.
- Promotes effective vendor relations and follows through with vendor problems.
- Responsible for proper daily cannabis inventory procedures including deliveries.
- Communicates details of all merchandise programs to all dispensary employees, and ensures that all employees are educated regarding customers’ service standards and product knowledge.
- Performs price surveys with competitive dispensaries, or directs responsible subordinates to complete the same. While so-called “online” surveys will sometimes be conducted, a dispensary manager should become familiar with the competition and its strengths and weaknesses, and communicate the same to the management team.
C. Patient Service and Care
- Demonstrates good customer service and sets a good example for dispensary staff. Treats customers with dignity and respect.
- In the absence of the Store Manager, responsible for handling customer complaints properly and professionally and empowers employees to do the same.
- Maintains neat and well groomed appearance and ensures that employees do the same per company standards.
- Ensures that Patients are checked into the facility in as expedient manner as reasonably possible given staff levels.
- Ensures Patients are entered into the POS system accurately, and when necessary, are signed up as members correctly and per MED regulations.
D. Administration
- Responsible for making daily bank deposits in the absence of the Store Manager..
- Completes or supervises the completion of all required paperwork related to customers, sales, sales tax, and other matters.
- Reviews and analyzes reports.
- Works with and understands Metrc and Biotrack
- Reviews Social Media postings
- In the absence of the Store Manager, submits nightly Metrc sales report
E. Dispensary Conditions
- Responsible for ensuring that all equipment is maintained in clean, working condition.
- Responsible for keeping all areas of the dispensary, inside and outside, neat, clean and organized.
- Responsible for adherence of all applicable State of Colorado Regulations regarding all aspects of the handling, sale, and storage of cannabis, and cannabis related products.
F. Dispensary Security
- Responsible for carrying out robbery and other incident prevention procedures according to company policy, including making sure that employees receive appropriate training to be provided by the company. Responsible for ensuring proper cash handling and inventory control procedures are followed.
G. Expense Control
- Responsible for controlling merchandise shortage and other by-line selling expenses over which the dispensary has control.
- Responsible for controlling labor costs through appropriate scheduling practices while balancing Patient care needs. Works with the management team and Director of Operations to develop methodologies to help predict labor hour needs based on customer demand arising from a variety of factors.
4. Requirements
- Effective communication skills with customers, vendors, subordinates, superiors and outside contacts.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and analyze reports.
- Operate Point of Sale equipment and personal computer..
- Prepare bank deposits.
- Move and clean shelves, displays and equipment; move cases of drinks, candies, and other edible cannabis products and related products and other merchandise.
- Stock all merchandise and product, and work with the management team in regard to the pricing of the products offered.
- Sweep and mop floors, empty trash containers, clean restrooms and parking lot areas.
- Represent the company in neighborhood or community activities, and otherwise in a positive light.
- Take appropriate disciplinary action against subordinates violating company policy, and document such action using company forms, following company procedure. Confers with management team members prior to making a drastic human resource decision such as a termination of employment.
5. Working Conditions
- Traditionally, the position has involved some lifting, bending and standing.
- Some exposure to outside elements, but primarily an inside retail environment.
- Due to the nature of the business, its heavily regulated nature, its novelty and potential attraction to criminal activity, the dispensary is under extensive surveillance, and everybody in the dispensary is subject to continuous monitoring by management, the Company office, outside security firm, regulatory agencies, and potentially law enforcement.
Other Pertinent Information:
Direct Superior and Support: The Shift Manager reports directly to the Store Manager. If you as a Shift Manager need assistance in performing the duties set forth in this Job Description, please communicate the same to the Store Manager and/or the Director of Operations, as necessary. Requests for supplies or other budgetary and financial matters are made through the General Manager.

Every Budtender is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of his or her shift, within company policy.
