The Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention, Program in Public Health, Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, at the
University of California, Irvine seeks Junior Specialist research professional to assist in Dr. David Timberlake's research group with a qualitative study examining cannabis users’ receptivity to using a non-tobacco product for blunt smoking.
Responsibilities
This full-time position is funded through research grants and is contingent on satisfactory performance and availability of grant funding. We are seeking to hire a highly motivated individual who has excellent organizational skills, communication skills, and experience conducting interviews. The individual hired for this position will be involved in 1) recruiting study participants through social media; 2) interviewing participants in focus groups; 3) transcribing audio files into text; 4) managing and analyzing the data in a qualitative software program (Atlas.ti); and 5) assisting with the preparation of manuscripts. Research opportunities for other related projects (e.g., cannabis marketing) may arise through the course of employment.
Qualifications
1) Bachelor’s degree in public health, health sciences, communication, psychology, or other related field;
2) Excellent communication (oral and written) and interviewing skills;
3) Organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management;
4) Strong teamwork skills.
5) Prior experience working with focus groups is preferred but not required.
