The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group is a hospitality group based in Chicago and we are expanding our operations. While we are extremely flexible, this position requires 5 days per week on-site.
We need an experienced Controller to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. We hope this person will soon be able to step into larger roles and functions within our organization including controls for our upcoming cannabis dispensaries.
Controller responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures for our private equity partners.
A successful Controller combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, our senior accountant will lead by example, stay organized, and find satisfaction in a job done complete and on-time.
The ideal candidate has experience collaborating and/or managing a team of account managers and works will with CPAs and outside accountants. Controller duties include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.
Responsibilities
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Provide technical support and advice on Management accountant
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
- Provide input into department’s goal setting process
- Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Plan, assign and review staff’s work
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
- Liaise with our Financial manager and Accounting manager to improve financial procedures
Skills
- Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, chief or senior accountant
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Restaurant accounting experience is a major plus.
- Awareness of business trends
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks.
- Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
- Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred

Marketing Manager – Cannabis Dispensary
The Fifty/50 Group, a rapidly growing hospitality management company with over a dozen established restaurant concepts and counting, is seeking a Marketing Manager for an upcoming cannabis dispensary brand. This position will report to the Senior Marketing Manager and the Director of Sales & Marketing, and will be based within 30 miles of downtown Chicago in the northwestern suburbs.
This role will focus on creating and executing marketing campaigns for the dispensary, which will also include elements of food & beverage promotion. Successful candidates will have proven ability to create and execute marketing campaigns for established brands, work with senior members of an organization, and bring fresh ideas and excitement to our brands.
Essential Functions:
- Work on development, execution, optimization, and reporting of full multi channel social media campaigns to meet divisional and store business goals
- Liaise with Leadership, General Managers and Executive Chefs to determine store priorities and real-time marketing needs
- Manage social media accounts and generate creative, original content on various platforms including but not limited to Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram for assigned brands and locations
- Manage editorial calendars and outline monthly content plans including event promotions, staff highlights, new menu items, etc.
- Analyze metrics weekly, monthly and annually in order to optimize posting and ad spending, educating teams on findings
- Coordinate photoshoots and video filming segments for turnkey social media opportunities, and long tail marketing campaigns
- Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and office equipment
- Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
- Ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
- Work in a confined, crowded space of variable light, noise and temperature levels
- Ability to occasionally retrieve and distribute files or office supplies weighing up to 10 pounds
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Post social media content meeting the weekly minimum per week / per location
- Assist Marketing team in creating content for special events
- Develop, coordinate, attend and capture social media at events with restaurant management as needed
- Coordinate graphic design and photography to create digital and printed marketing materials
- Assist with updating websites with new menus, events, etc.
- Secure private events for interested parties and coordinate onsite to ensure events run smoothly
Qualifications, Education and Behavior:
- Proficiency in Fishbowl Email/Digital Marketing, Paid Social Marketing Ads, Google Analytics, Content/Creative Design Development, and copywriting preferred
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or business
- 2-5 years' experience in Marketing; restaurant and/or hospitality experience is highly preferred
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and function effectively within set deadlines
- Self-starter with a positive can-do attitude and proactive work ethic
- Exquisite attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

General Manager of Okay Cannabis main objectives:

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Reports to the Director of Events and Catering
- Generates events sales by scouting new business and maintaining relationships with existing clients
- Serves as the point of contact for clients to plan events, develop contracts, detail events, and help the restaurant and store teams to execute events
- Works with all event vendors including: florists, rental company, security
- Partners with the Fifty/50 operations teams (Culinary, Front of House, Retail and Quick Service) on event preparation
- Meets with clients for additional walk-throughs to finalize event details
- Processes all catering requests via Tripleseat
- Manages a book of business to achieve budgets
- Creates proposals, contracts and event orders, as well as packages tailored to each clients requests
- Recaps events and provides operation, sales and production suggestions to the team
- Maintains fiscal responsibility in terms of rentals, supplies and labor
- Manages day-to-day catering requests and works closely with the team to ensure proper execution of event and catering orders
- Maintains industry knowledge including principles and practices within events and catering
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
