Lab Duties
- Weighing and preparing samples in various forms for chemical and microbial analysis
- Acquiring and analyzing data used to perform and report analytical laboratory testing of cannabis products;
- Preparing all appropriate reports related to cannabinoid potency, terpene potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, microbiologic organisms, water activity and mycotoxins;
- Performing advanced laboratory support functions such as calibration standard preparation, analytical equipment tuning and maintenance, and analysis of data used for laboratory quality control;
- Recognizing possible processing or instrument errors, providing backup for emergency/preventative equipment maintenance;
- Supporting laboratory process, method, and operations improvement projects;
- Assisting with the validation of test methods and with Research and Development (R&D) related activities;
- Assisting with the upkeep and improvement of elements of the quality management system such as SOP’s and the training program;
- Communicating with team members in order to best support client activities; and
- May also be called upon to perform the same or similar duties at other laboratory locations.
Field Sampling
- Addresses customer needs and provides appropriate recommendations based on internal briefings and relevant industry knowledge
- Serves as customer care liaison to ensure the highest levels of service, provide complaint resolution, and develop methods for increasing customer satisfaction
- Arranges for in-person site visits to grower facilities, dispensaries, and other existing clientele; create outreach initiatives to promote company offering and increase clientele
- Performs precise and reliable on-site sampling in accordance with State requirements and Steep Hill Laboratory procedures and protocols
- Secures the transportation of customer samples in designated vehicles from various sampling sites to delivery at the Steep Hill laboratory
- Adheres to recorded transport routes and schedules to ensure the safe and timely transport of client samples Implements proper chain of custody documentation and adhering to state and corporate protocol for the transport of samples
- Provides for the timely logging of client samples received into both Steep Hill’s database and METRC or MJ Freeway

POSITION SUMMARY: This is an analytical position responsible for advanced laboratory support functions to include calibration, standard preparation, instrument tuning, instrument and equipment maintenance, and analysis of data used for laboratory quality control. Daily work involves the use of various types of machinery, lab equipment and complex computer programs to perform tests, record data or findings and present information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Works with Department Head to ensure lab efficiencies for prioritization, workflow, and sample preparation, as well as the loading and running of instruments
- Identifies opportunities for improvement; works with Department Head to implement new and improved methods and processes
- Assists with the upkeep and improvement of the quality management system to include Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and the employee training programs
- Prepares calibrations and verifies quality controls for laboratory instruments and methods; uses data to recognize and/or correct possible processing or instrument errors
- Acquires and analyzes data used to perform and report analytical laboratory testing of cannabis products
- Assists with the validation of test methods and with Research and Development (R&D) related activities
- Imports data into LIMS and Seed-to-Sale systems; provides for the documentation and tracking of Continuing Calibration Verification (CCV) Standards for Quality Assurance
- Prepares reports related to cannabinoid potency, terpene potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, microbiologic organisms, water activity and mycotoxins
- Submits data reports and Certificates of Analysis for Department Head approval
- Provides guidance and support for all duties commonly assigned to Field Samplers and Lab Technicians
- May also be called upon to perform the same or similar duties at other laboratory facilities, and for other job-related duties as assigned

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 2-years real world experience in a post graduate (non-academic) laboratory setting

POSITION SUMMARY: This is a customer facing position is responsible for conducting in-person field sampling, interacting with company clientele, addressing client needs and/or issues, and providing chain of custody documentation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Works to develop rapport with customers; demonstrates a friendly and helpful manner designed to put clients at ease
- Performs precise and reliable on-site sampling in accordance with established procedures, protocols, and state specific requirements
- Secures the transportation of customer samples from sampling site to designated lab facility
- Adheres to recorded transport routes and schedules to ensure the safe and timely transport of client samples
- Implements proper chain of custody documentation and adheres to state and corporate protocol for the transport of samples
- Provides for the timely logging of client samples received into both Steep Hill’s database and METRC
- Ensures every interaction with our clientele results in a positive customer experience
- Serves as customer care liaison to ensure the highest levels of service, provides timely complaint resolution, immediately escalates larger issues to management
- Provides feedback to the organization to improve local customer relations
- Addresses customer needs and provides appropriate recommendations based on internal briefings and relevant industry knowledge
- Creates opportunities designed to support customer appreciation, i.e. small gifts, giveaways, and small holiday promotions
- Completes sampling inventory spreadsheets in a timely manner
- May be responsible for other job-related duties as assigned

Lab Duties
- Weighing and preparing samples in various forms for chemical and microbial analysis
- Acquiring and analyzing data used to perform and report analytical laboratory testing of cannabis products;
- Preparing all appropriate reports related to cannabinoid potency, terpene potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, microbiologic organisms, water activity and mycotoxins;
- Performing advanced laboratory support functions such as calibration standard preparation, analytical equipment tuning and maintenance, and analysis of data used for laboratory quality control;
- Recognizing possible processing or instrument errors, providing backup for emergency/preventative equipment maintenance;
- Supporting laboratory process, method, and operations improvement projects;
- Assisting with the validation of test methods and with Research and Development (R&D) related activities;
- Assisting with the upkeep and improvement of elements of the quality management system such as SOP’s and the training program;
- Communicating with team members in order to best support client activities; and
- May also be called upon to perform the same or similar duties at other laboratory locations.
Field Sampling
- Addresses customer needs and provides appropriate recommendations based on internal briefings and relevant industry knowledge
- Serves as customer care liaison to ensure the highest levels of service, provide complaint resolution, and develop methods for increasing customer satisfaction
- Arranges for in-person site visits to grower facilities, dispensaries, and other existing clientele; create outreach initiatives to promote company offering and increase clientele
- Performs precise and reliable on-site sampling in accordance with State requirements and Steep Hill Laboratory procedures and protocols
- Secures the transportation of customer samples in designated vehicles from various sampling sites to delivery at the Steep Hill laboratory
- Adheres to recorded transport routes and schedules to ensure the safe and timely transport of client samples Implements proper chain of custody documentation and adhering to state and corporate protocol for the transport of samples
- Provides for the timely logging of client samples received into both Steep Hill’s database and METRC or MJ Freeway
- Cooperates with laboratory team members to facilitate the accurate dissemination of information across the organization
