Job Summary:
Sozo is currently hiring a full-time Strategic Analyst to join our growing team! The ideal candidate is proactive, innovative, passionate, and able to conform with industry and company best practices, works well in a team environment, and is a creative problem-solver.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and identify new/perspective markets and opportunities and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the market based upon company goals and priorities.
- Research and analyze local, state, federal legislation, and emerging policy trends.
- Track pending legislation in future markets and identify potential areas of opportunity or concern.
- Quantify the outcomes of legislation and regulation on all parties involved.
- Identify real estate opportunities in prospective markets in conformance with local requirements.
- Collective necessary information regarding real estate mapping and local ordinances.
- Work with management to prepare applications for licensing.
- Management of information flow throughout the entire process from the application stage through the implementation stage.
- Respond to requests from the state in a timely manner.
Experience and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business, Marketing, Commercial Real Estate, or similar field is preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Comfortable learning new technology.
- Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner.
- Excellent reading, writing and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization.
- Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
- Continuous improvement oriented, strong analytical mind, and a non-linear thinker is preferred.
- Adaptable / Flexible - being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances in a start-up, fast-paced environment.
- Open to a flexible work schedule and must possess a positive can-do attitude.
- Must be able to travel occasionally and have internet access at home for business-related tasks (ex. video conference calls).
Physical Requirements:
- Long periods of prolonged standing and sitting while maintaining focus.
- Able to use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing, warehouse, or retail environment.
- Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance) and must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and product.

Job Summary:
The Compliance Manager is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and training related to regulatory compliance of a cannabis company. This person will also be responsible for ensuring our facilities and operations remain compliant with federal, state, and local regulations including the Marijuana Regulatory Agency, the Michigan Department of Agriculture, OSHA, and other applicable municipal requirements. The Compliance Manager will promote a culture of ethical and compliant behavior while continuously monitoring laws and regulations regarding the company’s operations, and the implementation of employee training. A successful Compliance Manager will participate in interactions with the MRA and METRC staff that will provide support to the company’s leadership and various department managers/supervisors.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Build solid, trusting, and positive relationships throughout all levels of the organization.
- Respond to leadership inquiries and requests and resolve issues in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner.
- Understand and stay aware of all the state and local legislative initiatives that affect dispensaries, distributors, and cultivators and quickly diagnose the implications of those initiatives as it relates to the company’s operations, policies, and procedures.
- Review, update, and create written SOP’s to ensure compliance with all regulations and internal policies and procedures.
- Conducts compliance audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and minimize risks.
- Design and implement employee training programs to ensure their job performance and professional advancement in the cannabis industry.
- Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide coaching or training, if necessary.
- Assist with MRA and local application development and maintenance.
- Respond to various in-house compliance inquiries.
- Any other legal or regulatory based tasks as assigned.
Experience and Requirements:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs and/or risk management.
- Bachelor's degree in business, pre-law, government, public policy, or a related field is required.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Prior experience administering employee training programs.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making skills with a strong business acumen.
- Previous experience reading and writing concise manuals and/or reports.
- Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to resolve issues decisively and with a sense of urgency.
- Detail-oriented and persuasive.
- Must be compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the Cannabis industry.
