Pristine Labs is a start-up, ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited cannabis testing laboratory in Detroit, Michigan, provides analytical chemistry testing services for cannabis cultivators, processors, and manufacturers as mandated by the State of Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA). We are seeking for a highly-motivated Laboratory Technician eager to learn and grow in the new, evolving cannabis industry.
Job Overview: This position will be responsible for performing chemical extraction procedures on a variety of cannabis products as well as performing sample preparation and analysis for cannabinoid content and other analytes on one or more of these instruments: HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS. They also assist lab managers in documenting and implementing Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Quality Inventory procedures, as well as day to day laboratory operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
*Determine if samples are suitable for testing according to established acceptance criteria. Perform extractions and prepare samples for analysis in accordance with established laboratory SOPs for analysis on HPLC, LC-MS-MS, GC-MS, and others.
*Perform data analysis & upload, review, and approve sample results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Michigan's statewide seed-to-sale marijuana tracking system Metrc.
*Perform routine quality control and calibration in accordance with established laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager. Interpret and evaluate QA/QC sample result data to ensure compliance with quality control specifications of ISO 17025 standards and state regulatory requirements.
*Follow routine preventive maintenance schedules and perform troubleshooting activities on instruments and equipment to ensure data integrity and prevent interruptions to workflow.
*Work independently and coordinate activities with team members to effectively complete assigned tasks and deliver analytical results timely according to expectations.
*Promote a positive and safe work environment through understanding of safety (OSHA) and HAZMAT regulations, practices, and procedures.
*Perform laboratory house-keeping duties such as cleaning glassware, making solutions, and tracking reagent inventory.
*Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties delegated by the Laboratory Manager consistent with skill level and training.
QUALIFICATIONS
*MUST BE OVER 21 YEARS OLD
*Must not concurrently work in any other part of the cannabis industry.
*Bachelor's degree (BS) in Chemistry, Biology, or related sciences from an accredited college or university with at least one year analytical laboratory experience. Candidates with an associate degree will be considered with minimum three years’ experience in a cannabis laboratory setting with knowledge applicable to HPLC, LC-MS, and/or GC-MS.
*Must be able to legally work in the United States. English is required to be spoken clearly and must be written clearly and legibly.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
*Experience with Agilent HPLC, LC/MS-MS, and GC/MS-MS instrumentation.
*Experience with METRC state reporting software.
*Experience with LIMS
*Experience in a regulated environment (ISO 17025, COLA, etc)
PREFERRED SKILLS
*Proficient in the use of basic laboratory hardware such as analytical balances, pipettes, vortexers, and centrifuges.
*Highly organized with attention to details, speed, consistency, and accuracy in performing assigned tasks to meet the laboratory deadlines of high-volume production environment
*Ability to learn and adapt quickly with knowledge of the mathematical skills required to perform calculations such as dilutions and buffer preparation.
*Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work environment, performing a variety of tasks as requested by the team leader.
*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
*Extensive sitting and computer use.
*Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers.
*Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.
*Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
