JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Assistant Professor – Non Tenure Track (fixed-term)
The Department of Pharmacology at Penn State University College of Medicine invites applications for a non-tenure track, fixed-term faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of both the Drug Discovery, Development, and Delivery (D4) Core and the State Approved Medical Marijuana Academic Clinical Research Center (MMACRC). This will include advising and assisting researchers with drug screenings and assay development within the D4 core. Additional activities involving the D4 core include maintaining equipment, training staff and students on equipment, performing experiments and data analysis, and budget management for the D4 core. Regarding the MMACRC, this position will serve as the director of operations, ensuring the continued growth of the medical marijuana research program at Penn State. This includes fostering and maintaining collaborative relationships with faculty, administration, staff, and our corporate partner. Additionally, this position will assist researchers with grant applications, develop new research projects/collaborations, coordinate meetings of research teams involved with the MMACRC, ensures program compliance with government regulations, and oversees research support staff associated with the MMACRC. Additional duties will include helping to develop a Medical Cannabis Certificate program and teaching for this and other courses. This position is expected to submit independent extramural grant applications. Oversee the daily operations of the Core including interviewing, hiring, and supervising support staff, conducting evaluations and providing guidance/counsel and opportunities for training. Budget management, preparation and submission of grants, records management and statistical report preparation, meeting coordination and documentation of studies; ensures program compliance with government regulations, University policies, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, and prepares regulatory reports; monitors operating cost; prepares financial reports. This position requires a doctoral degree and considerable post-doctoral experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
