Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the Grower Accountant Assistant will be responsible for the preparation and communication of all growers' quality and inventory reports, payments and paperwork to ensure their timeliness and accuracy. They will also be responsible for the accurate data entry into SAP and tracking of inventory. Responsibilities also include helping to increase grower's satisfaction and improve ofi's competitive position in the Walnut industry. Also perform administrative duties in preparation of harvest season and receiving of product from growers.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage Grower payables and inbound documents.
- File and mail out Grower payments and paperwork.
- Assist the Scanning Team to manage flow of documents, resolve issues and exceptions to ensure timely handling of documents.
- Liaison with the Global Business Services (OGBS) team and plant employees to address any inquiries and resolve exceptions related to grower payments.
- Confirm proper interface between USDA portals, plants and SAP and resolve issues.
- Enter receiving data into SAP.
- Track and reconcile inventory throughout the season.
- Ensure product samples are pulled correctly from each load.
- Calculate and issue grower payments per contract terms, adding relevant bonuses and deductions.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis.
- Act as the liaison between growers and the business.
- Travel to plant locations as needed for training of plant employees and interact closely with receiving and quality personnel.
- Complete off-season projects outside of the Grower payables scope as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.
- One (1) year of experience in Grower accounting/payables or related field is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate data entry is required.
- Proficient skills with Microsoft Office programs, including but not limited to Excel, Word and Outlook is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain positive interactions while addressing sensitive topics surrounding payment issues (e.g., correcting errors).
- Working knowledge of general accounting concepts (e.g., revenues, expenses, receivables, and liabilities).
- Hands-on experience working with advanced data processing systems is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Work experience within the agricultural industry is preferred.
- The ability to work extended hours during harvest season (September-November) to meet the business needs if necessary is required.
- Ability and willingness to travel to plant locations as needed for training and business is required.
