Cannabis Cultivator
Overview:
Laurel Harvest Labs is a new state licensed cannabis facility near Lancaster, PA focused on creating the highest quality cannabis products for the community. We are looking for a qualified, flexible and open minded candidate to join our cultivation team.
Summary of role:
You will be responsible for assisting the Director of Cultivation with general garden care. Experience with cannabis cultivation is preferred but a general understanding of plant care and plant life cycles are required. This is an entry level, part time position starting out and will transition into a full time position in the near future. The ideal candidate would be flexible to work occasional weekends and training of SOP’s will be conducted throughout the beginning stages of employment.
Job responsibilities:
Preparation of various nutrient mixes.
Pruning and de leafing of mothers and vegetative plants.
Occasional help with de leafing of flowering plants.
Assisting with the cloning process.
Maintain clean grow rooms and assist with room turnover/sterilization.

Basic operations of plant care on occasional weekends.
Qualifications and Skill requirements:
Proficient in MS Office and ability to learn plant tracking software MJ Freeway.
Ability to lift 30+ pounds.
Ability to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures.
Basic understanding of plant care and plant life cycles.

We are looking for a professional grower to relocate to Bridgeport, West Virginia. As the Head Cultivator, you are expected to manage small teams to ensure the plants are given the best care through all stages of the growing process. High levels of communication with upper management and team members is expected to excel in this position. Duties will include the following:
Responsibilities
- Developing cultivation plans and assigning duties to the cultivation and manufacturing teams
- Organizing and documenting the processes of transplanting, cloning, defoliating, topping and training of plants
- Ensuring growth requirements of cannabis plants are met consistently by managing environmental factors including PH levels, lighting, humidity, nutrients, irrigation schedules
- Create sanitary cultivation practices and procedures to reduce chances of pests or diseases entering the growing area or spreading
- Make sure cultivation procedures follow all state and city regulations.
- Ability to identify and resolve pest or diseases found on the plants with minimal chemical treatments
- Implementing an effective preventative maintenance program and biological controls designed to eliminate molds, mildews, mites, aphids, fungus, and other diseases.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy work environment always
- Ensuring that company policies and procedures are always followed
- Any other reasonable duties as may be requested from time to time by company management
- Conduct and plan weekly cultivation meetings to give updates to stakeholders and upper management
Skills and Requirements
- An understanding of biological control, natural/organic farming practices, plant biology, and genetics
- A full working knowledge of hydroponic growing methods and practices
- Experience and understanding of temperature and humidity controls along with irrigation and nutrient knowledge to optimize plant production
- Expert knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment options with minimal chemical treatments
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Sativa, Indica and Hybrid strains of cannabis.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Relevant greenhouse or indoor farming experience with sound knowledge of the entire growth cycle along with harvesting and curing procedures
- Ability to gain Qualified applicator license (QAL) or Qualified applicator certificate (QAC) to help with pesticide applications
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check (excluding marijuana related charges)
- Must be detail-oriented. We're in a highly-regulated industry and getting things right is essential.
- Willing to relocate to West Virginia
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Plant Sciences, Botany, Plant Biology, Horticulture, or an Agriculture related field
- 3-5 years of experience as a Head grower or similar position in commercial cultivation or landscaping
- Experience of creating and maintain a biological control program and reduce chemical treatments
- 1-2 years of quality or process control experience in manufacturing/farm/food processing and supply chain management
- Must be a strong leader with an acute business sense
- Experienced team leader with a positive attitude and vision for the future
- Knowledge of large-scale commercial plant cultivation including nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, air flow, etc.
- 2+ years of hydroponic production in the field of greenhouse for commercial production (Preferred)
- Experience in horticulture, crop management, cultivation mechanical systems, plumbing; including irrigation systems, and electronic controls. (Preferred)
- Exposure to horticulture and or plant science or lab processing, (Preferred)

Description
- Oversee and perform all functions associated with management and oversight of a retail medical cannabis dispensary;
- Administer routine inspections to maintain the accurate inventory of all cannabis products;
- Manage and supervise the activities of dispensary staff, and make recommendations regarding hiring, discipline, termination or advancement of employees;
- Train dispensary staff to ensure a consistent performance and knowledge base of company standard operating procedures and a comprehensive understanding of all products being sold to patients;
- Manage daily financial reporting requirements and oversee all cash handling procedures;
- Develop and maintain a schedule of all dispensary staff including receptionists, counselors, schedulers and dispensary technicians;
- Receive and resolve patient incidences or complaints;
- Protect patient rights by overseeing the employee HIPAA education program and ensure each employee is maintaining the confidentiality of medical and financial information;
- Oversee patient education and counseling programs. Review and continuously revise information regarding debilitating conditions, their association with medical cannabis products, side effects, etc;
- Assist with oversight of the retail, clinical research, and patient care and counseling aspects of operations;
- Assist in formulation and implementation of the strategic plan to guide operation and expansion;
- Maintain awareness of both external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for improvement, and industry development;
- Supervise and train patient counselors, budtenders, and dispensary technicians;
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all relevant statutes, regulations, and directives in all respects, as well as best practices;
- Strive for patient satisfaction in all respects and ensure a patient-friendly environment;
- Author, maintain, and continuously update standard operating procedures, as directed;
- Collaborate with scientific/medical personnel to conduct research in connection with the palliative and curative potential of cannabis and its constituent cannabinoid chemicals in order to enhance the pharmacological understanding and medicinal value of cannabis and its alleviative effects on symptoms and debilitating conditions;
- Collaborate with scientific/medical personnel to conduct research to enhance the understanding of how different patients or their debilitating illnesses interact with specific cannabis properties, brands, strains, dosages, potencies, and forms of delivery;
- Represent the company in labor union relations, before third parties, including acting as a spokesperson in addressing the press, trade journals, medical communities, and personnel;
- Prepare and coordinate presentations and lectures to various audiences, and oversee and author training curricula;
- Establish and oversee physician and provider outreach and education programs, and;
- Such other functions as directed by management or the Board.

Requirements
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required (doctorate/Pharm.D. preferred). Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office a must. Clinical or research experience a plus. Current state licensure to practice pharmacy is required.

POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for managing the daily operations of manufacturing activities of the Company. Responsible for managing the Extraction and Lab team in accordance with Virginia rules and regulations and standards set by Dharma Pharmaceuticals, LLC. Implements and maintains processes related to the purification of extracted cannabis oils and testing of final dosage forms derived from medical cannabis. The mission of the Company is to provide safe, natural relief to patients throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia with wellness-driven products that empower the health of our customers. Responsible for managing the extraction and processing teams in accordance with Virginia rules and regulations and standards set by Dharma Pharmaceuticals, LLC. Provides support for all manufacturing employees, including scheduling, training, policy and procedure updates, industry news, and product information. Overall responsibility and accountability for the extraction and lab processing of safe, high quality cannabis plants and cannabis-based products.
CORE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Support and Management
- Responsible for managing extraction and lab/processing team with strategic direction, oversight of system-wide inventory control and development, and efficient manufacturing processes.
- Serves as a role model and resource for extraction and lab / processing team related to products and services, policies and procedures, industry news, and changes in regulations.
- Trains and supervises all extraction staff and evaluates staff performance.
- Plans workload distribution, delegates tasks and create staff schedules to meet Company inventory management goals
- Oversees all extraction tasks and processes, ensures proper documentation of all applicable activities in accordance with the Virginia regulations and standards set by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy and maintain inventory via RFID tracking for all cannabis seeds, plants, products and extracts to prevent diversion.
- Responds to all extraction and lab/processing staff and consultants’ questions, concerns, or suggestions and takes action when necessary to resolve conflicts.
- Responsible for delegating tasks to extraction and lab/processing staff and consultants to maintain a compliant and clean cultivation facility.
- Coordinates with the executive team to ensure accurate information is communicated to the extraction and lab/processing staff.
Extraction
- Manage all extraction activities of the Company for all products for patients.
- Responsible for quality control of all products produced and distributed by the Company.
Compliance / Quality Assurance
- Assist with development and implementation of quality improvement programs to meet the Company standards.
- Responsible for extraction team compliance of all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols. Manage compliance with all current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care.
- Evaluate quality control and quality assurance statistics and modifies SOPs, as needed.
Inventory Management and Control
- Leads continuous improvement in all and extraction and lab/processing protocols to maximize efficiencies to produce the most affordable product for patients.
Internal Product Analytic Testing
- Be responsible for daily duties related to analytic testing process of medical cannabis-based products.
- Management duties and responsibilities of additional chemists/technicians as company grows.
Independent Lab Testing
- Coordinate independent lab testing of all company oils and products as required by state regulation and Company procedures.
- Continuous improvement with independent lab testing companies for efficiencies and processes.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain appropriate records related to quality control and testing procedures and results.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Understanding of manufacturing processes in clean environments. Understanding of pharmaceutical compounding, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and clean lab environments. Understanding of Analytic Methods and Analytical Instruments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters or higher-level degree in Chemical Science or four years of additional experience.
- Experience with analytical processes, botanical or biologic processes preferred.
- Familiarity with quality control, policy and procedure and documentation.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing cGMP manufacturing at scale.
- Awareness of high-tech pharmaceutical manufacturing or pharmaceutical processing.
- 2+ years’ experience in related manufacturing leadership role.
- The ability to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time (i.e., lifting samples, moving lab equipment, and regular inventory).
- Physical requirements include standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
