*We are looking for a qualified HPLC Laboratory Manager to lead our team of processing technicians and undertake a variety of laboratory procedures. Our HPLC Laboratory Manager will be handling sensitive chromatographic equipment to analyze hemp oil samples for their cannabinoid content, diligently logging this information, and compiling customer and internal reports. The HPLC Lab Manager will also be operating sophisticated hemp oil refinement technology which facilitates the removal of THC from our client’s products to enable FDA/USDA compliance.
Our ideal candidate will have experience working in a laboratory setting with a bench-top HPLC system and will have worked in hemp and cannabis processing facilities, testing laboratories, or related businesses. We are looking for an individual who is excited at the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with existing company ownership to develop SOPs for our equipment, intake/outtake procedures, safety protocols (hazardous materials handling, lockout/tagout, etc), and related documents. The leader who fills this position will need to make the optimization of our company's processes a personal responsibility and be stimulated by having a hand in building our brand.

Job Responsibilities- This is not intended to be an exhaustive list, but rather is a primer for what our candidates can expect to be doing on a day-to-day basis in this role.
- Oversee a team of 3-5 HPLC lab technicians
- Train HPLC lab technicians on our company’s specific SOPs and guidelines
- Review reports and analyses generated by HPLC lab technicians and offer constructive feedback to help build a team environment where all personnel feel empowered to succeed
- Craft thoughtful and clear emails
- Articulately answer questions about our process to prospective and returning clients
- Receive and return bulk shipments of hemp oil from clients into our office and follow intake/outtake protocols
- Weigh, analyze, label, and document hemp oil samples
- Frequently input data and interact with business product tracking software for online client interactions
- Record all data and results of processes in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
- Coordinate with 3rd party testing laboratories to ensure internal sample accuracy and timely execution of testing requests with those laboratory partners
- Design and execute standard operating procedures, make day-to-day observations and interpret findings to offer feedback to company leadership
- Conduct experiments to verify/reject various hypotheses in order to optimize our process for our clients and work with a dynamic set of variables such as exists in the hemp industry (new emerging cannabinoids, fluid and ever-changing regulations, etc).
- Establish and maintain supplies pars, and assist in ordering recurring laboratory inventory
- Organize and store all chemical substances according to OSHA standards and internal company safety protocols
- Lead 30 minute monthly safety meetings among all employees
- Maintain equipment and report equipment inconsistencies/failures
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times by all personnel and maintain a clean and orderly working environment
- This is a full time position
Skills:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating an HPLC station in a laboratory environment
- Proven experience as a Lab Technician or similar position
- Minimum of 1 year in a leadership position managing other employees and holding personnel accountable to company protocols
- Excellent organizational skills both in the digital and real world
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, solvents, etc)
- In depth knowledge of QHSE Systems or similar safety management system, preventative measures and laboratory best practices
- Ability to routinely lift 70 pound vessels of hemp oil to chest height
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet programs, project management software, and other related office tools
- Ability to work autonomously or collectively with others
- Minimum of 2 years collegiate work such as an associate’s degree preferred. Bonus points given to individuals with a 4 year degree in a related field such as biology or chemistry
Compensation:
- $22-$24/hour DOE
