We’re looking for talented and motivated_ Junior and Senior Software Engineers_ to join our team in Chicago full time. We leverage proprietary technology to provide fair access to capital to state-legal cannabis companies. This innovative solution enables borrowers to get the funding they deserve and investors to receive high returns. Our efforts have been very successful, and now, GoodTree Capital is looking for great talent to help grow and scale the business further. As an engineer, you will be working closely with the CEO and CTO to help design and implement new technologies essential for our growth.
You are a good fit for this position if you are an excellent communicator, deeply knowledgeable about the web development space, comfortable in a fast-moving team, excited to collaborate, and eager to have an impact on our investment and lending experience. You should have broad skills in web development, strong core foundation in design principles, and an eagerness to drive new solutions. You will work with minimal direction to quickly deliver high-quality outputs. There will be overlapping projects, so you are good at multi-tasking, juggling competing priorities, and organizing yourself. Most of all, you're excited by translating uncertainty and ambiguity into actionable recommendations.*WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Write high quality, well-tested, and scalable code
- Make an immediate impact by quickly getting up to speed and building features from start to finish
- Own the end-to-end design/development of big picture items (i.e. deposit engine, investor dashboard, loan prediction algorithms)
- Work with front-end design, backend implementation, and server management
- Learn and implement server architecture
- Learn to make sense of large sets of data
- (Senior Role) Lead in the design and management of high impact features
- (Senior Role) Have the autonomy to take the technology in the direction that seems best fit
SENIOR ROLE - REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of experience in Node.js
- 2+ years of experience in Frontend Frameworks (i.e. Vue/Angular)
- 3+ years of experience in Full Stack Development
- Experience with server management
SENIOR ROLE - RECOMMENDED
- 3+ years of experience in Node.js or similar
- 5+ years of experience in Full Stack Development
- 2+ years of experience in Data Engineering
- Experience with Web Security
- Experience with server architecture
- Experience with Heroku/AWS
JUNIOR ROLE - REQUIREMENTS
- 1+ years of experience in Node.js

Our team is looking for a UX Designer to drive engaging user experiences and push the limits of what customers expect from a modern, tech-driven financial institution. As we are working in an emerging industry with very few definitive guidelines, it is important that we understand our user behaviors, needs, and motivations.
You are a good fit for this position if you are a designer with 4+ years of experience working on real products that people use every day. You are an organized self-starter that can deal with ambiguity and are always on the lookout for ways to improve the customer experience. You understand the value of user testing and prototyping, and thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. Above all, you are passionate about solving real problems for real people through research, design, and iteration.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- You will work with marketing, sales, and tech to create experiences that are engaging, useful, and solution-oriented.
- You will use market analysis, customer feedback, data analytics, and usability findings to tailor your designs to the customer in order to best solve their problems.
- You will be responsible for developing your ideas from concept to completion--presenting them to stakeholders for approval, and working directly with developers to bring them to life.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years of professional work experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar UX-related role, preferably on enterprise products.
- An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating a range of artifacts developed in creating a variety of visual solutions.
- Understanding of information architecture, user interface design, and visual design sensibility.
- Proven track record of delivering compelling visual solutions.
- Ability to expertly articulate ideas, design decisions, and design work to senior level stakeholders.
- Proven experience influencing senior-level product managers, design leadership, and engineering leadership on best design solutions using data as a rationale for decisions.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a strong rationale for design decisions.
RECOMMENDED
- Experience with UX design for complex workflows for niche enterprise user bases (e.g. technical users, banking users, medical professionals, etc.).
- Strong time management skills and the ability to provide design leadership-level work independently.
- A bachelor's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related UX degree is ideal.
- Track record of user-centered design approaches and activities (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) is a big plus.
- Ability to generate interactive prototypes in HTML, JavaScript, & CSS is a plus. Prototyping with tools is also a plus.
