The Head of Cultivation Position is responsible for strategically and technically managing all aspects of Flor Cultivation’s operations including production, site management, set-up, and execution. Responsible for day-to-day cultivation at a state of the art 24,000 sf licensed cannabis cultivation facility. The Head of Cultivation will grow, care for and maintain cannabis plants from propagation to harvest and manage post-production scheduling and QC. The Head of Cultivation reports directly to the CEO.
Duties and responsibilities or (Essential Functions):

- Develop and write cultivation SOPs ensuring compliance with Local and State regulations and company policies.
- Evaluate the Cultivation facility design and coordinate with the Architect and engineer team to ensure successful project completion.
- Evaluate new technologies and techniques and implement them at cultivation facilities.
- Familiarity with rockwool, drip irrigation automation systems, and LED lighting.
- Develop and set indoor grow facility environmental parameters and program/monitor automated control software.
- Interview and Hire new Cultivation crew members, Cultivation Manager and train staff on all aspects of Cultivation.
- Develop production schedules, work schedules and duties for all staff.
- Monitor production results regularly with Owners, Executive team driving accountability for adherence to standards and product yield and quality, and responsible for addressing any deviation.
- Evaluate and approve all crop inputs and supplies for the facility.
- Develop custom fertilizer recipes to optimize yield, plant health and potency.
- Set and implement integrated pest management strategies in compliance with state and company policy.
- Develop and maintain proper sanitation protocols for the facility.
- Monitor post-production team for adherence to standards and quality control.
- Identify plant varieties to fit facility and market needs.
- Set propagation, germination and planting schedules for all crops and varieties.
- Coordinate clerical, recordkeeping, inventory and financial data.
- Explain and enforce safety regulations and policies.
- Maintain accurate daily activity records and operation logs as directed.
- Assist staff with daily sanitation and organization of all equipment present within the facility.
- Perform cultivation facility tasks including but not limited to cloning, transplanting, vegetation, feeding, nutrient management, defoliation, topping, foliar feeding, drying/curing, trimming, waste disposal, and pest prevention.
- Ensure that all plants are tracked according to company policy and regulatory (METRC) statues throughout the entirety of the crop life cycle.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years experienced with the leadership of a large-scale commercial growing operation in a regulated cannabis program or horticulture operation with similar photoperiod plants.
- Degrees in Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Horticulture or related field is a plus.
- Leadership skills building teams in a highly collaborative environment.
- Experience in crop steering developing advanced/custom fertilizer recipes strongly desired.
- Experience in integrated pest management (IPM)
- Strong process management skills.
- Adept in project management and workflow software, Excel spreadsheets, developing and tracking KPI’s, inventory management, labor forecasting, and efficient task delegation.
- Skilled in working and communicating with technical experts.
- Skilled in use of horticulture automation systems including – Growlink, AROYA or equivalent.
Special requirements:
- Work is performed in an indoor facility and indoor cultivation room environment with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, water, and high humidity. The employee's working conditions are moderately noisy. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an agricultural setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to climb and descend a ladder safely; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to speak and hear; to travel to other locations within California using various modes of transportation; to verbally communicate to exchange information.
- While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and able to pass a background screening.
- Maintain a valid medical marijuana recommendation.
- Must sign and adhere to an NDA.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10 hours.
Salary:
- Salary plus bonuses will be offered based on experience. Range $90,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year.
