Job Description
The responsibilities of the Budtenders within the dispensary broadly embrace the key areas described below. The most critical role is to ensure outstanding customer service and cannabis knowledge within our medical use cannabis dispensary. Working within a team, the budtenders are the point of contact for all patients/customers at our dispensary. Outstanding communication skills, the ability to assess our customers’ needs and providing detailed information about our products is required. Our budtenders will assist in developing the dispensary’s brand: you will be required to deliver the dispensary’s customer service standards and to exceed our customers’ expectations. The budtender will report administratively to the General Manager and functionally to the Assistant Manager(s), under the supervision of the General Manager.
Duties:
1. Provides high level boutique customer service that consistently exceeds customers’ expectations.
2. Accountable for accurately utilizing the Point of Sale system and inventory management
3. Follows and executes compliant practices adhering in accordance with state regulations and the dispensary’s standard operating procedures.
4. Promotes a work environment that is positive, customer-service oriented, and rooted in education
5. Provides support in customer interactions
6. Fulfills any tasks that were given to them by management in an efficient and effective manner
7. Ensures operations are in compliance with the regulations set forth by the state’s regulatory agency
8. Communicates any and all necessary information to the management team regarding operations while management was not present
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain extensive knowledge of the cannabis industry and the dispensary’s products
2. Engages with consumers to better understand the consumers’ desired experience so that they can make informed product recommendations to best suit the needs of the customer
3. Remains knowledgeable of the dispensary’s product inventory and is able to easily explain the benefits of the specific products and the methods of titration in a way that is understood by all customers
4. Maintains a level of intellectual curiosity regarding the benefits of cannabis medicine.
5. Practices fine dining level customer service by providing extraordinary attention to the customers’ needs while communicating information of products honestly. Must go above and beyond to try and effectively answer customer questions and concerns.
6. Practices empathetic client care utilizing active listening, eye contact, welcoming body language and warm tone of voice. Must be sensitive to different customers’ needs and be able to adapt accordingly.
7. Is knowledgeable about compliance and reporting regulations and how it relates to customer purchase limits.
8. Maintains a clean, safe, and well merchandised store environment.
9. Acknowledges any inventory issues and properly reports them to management.
10. Completes other duties as assigned in a timely and appropriate manner.
Qualifications:
1. Has cannabis knowledge and is up to date on current trends in the industry
2. Retail experience in a team environment
3. Familiar with online databases, Point-of-Sale inventory and cash management
4. Ability to creatively cultivate long-term customer relationships and maintain a positive attitude in a high traffic retail environment.
5. Fun attitude and strong work ethic.
6. Intellectual curiosity specifically in regard to cannabis medicine
Supervision:
1. Works under the general supervision of the dispensary’s management team
REQUIRED SKILLS
1. At least 21 years of age.
2. Demonstrated passion to serving the medical-use cannabis community.
3. Excellent communication and customer service skills
4. Computer operating skills
5. Must be able to pass a background check
6. Medical marijuana and recreational marijuana product knowledge highly desirable
7. Experience in a complex, fast-paced environment
8. Ability to connect with customers, patients, and community members genuinely and respectfully
9. Desire to learn more about cannabis
10. Organization and planning skills
11. Strong operational skills in a customer-service environment
12. Supervisory and team-building skills
13. Ability to pass all required background checks to work with cannabis
14. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
15. Ability to build relationships both internally as well as in the community
16. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
17. Ability to work a flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
18. Knowledge of and experience with POS systems and cash handling
