Cannabis Farm Maintenance Personnel - California
We are looking for a thorough Maintenance Technician to undertake the responsibility to preserve the good condition and functionality of premises. You will perform maintenance tasks of great variety. A Maintenance Technician is a thorough professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines. The goal is to maintain the buildings and common areas in the best possible condition.
Responsibilities
- Conducts regular maintenance inspections to ensure all equipment receives proper preventative maintenance on schedules created and or previously established by Jushi, standard best practices, and or manufacturers, retail and cultivation guidelines
- Plan, direct, manage and perform general maintenance and preventative maintenance for all areas of the property.
- Optimize the established preventative maintenance program to ensure regular and efficient inspections of equipment
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment as necessary to ensure proper use per manufactures specifications
- Assists in managing the physical facility including equipment, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, envelope, equipment and life safety systems
- Partners with housekeeping director to establish and manage an effective maintenance and cleaning program.
- Oversee and participates in all capital improvement projects as needed by the construction team.
- Ensure all vendor contracts are properly reviewed, negotiated and executed to Jushi’s standards and, when necessary, flagged to the executive team
- Attends all required manager or company meetings as directed
- Provides guidance and recommendations for selection/recruitment/award and retention of world-class partnerships and commits to Gain, Train, and Retain.
- Holds Facilities team accountable for the timely completion and accurate communication of brand initiatives, fostering a culture of accountability and driving brand momentum.

Skills
- Proven experience as maintenance technician
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
- Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime
- High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) is desired

Assistant managers report to local Farm Managers. Farm Managers are under the guidance of the Master Grower for the region.
Each farm is privately operated and adheres to strict pesticide, horticulture and State mandated and safety procedures to ensure quality results for large-scale indoor cannabis production.
This is not a typical 8AM-5PM position. This is a agricultural role that bends at the needs of the plants and farms needs. The schedule is centered around weather and other elements. Some days being before sunrise and are split into two parts in order to take advantage of the cooler temperatures of the morning and evening. Other days are 12-16 hours in order to harvest the crops in time for the best yield. Some evenings and weekends are a must.
Only individuals who want to learn a trade in the cannabis industry and learn from the ground up should apply. It is hard, intensive labor that will reap the reward of learning a sought-after trade in a fast-growing industry.
Qualifications
- We're looking for a strong professional with a background in horticulture or agriculture
- 3-5 years experience indoor cannabisgrow experience is a must
- California or Colorado grow experience preferred
- Knowledge of plants, diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment options
- Keep the facility clean, tidy, and functional with an emphasis on the growing areas/spaces
- Utilize farm equipment such as backhoes, tractors, hand tools, fencing materials, etc.
- Have basic and functional knowledge of general trades such as plumbing, framing, construction, groundwork, etc.
- Strong leadership experience
- Operations management mindset and approach in leading a cultivation center
- Strong attention to detail.
- Inherently sound human resource values and problem resolution skills in combination with a history of strong leadership skills and talent development of those directly and indirectly reporting to this person.
- Strong communication skills to every level of the organization.
- Ability to develop structure and process while operating in a continued emerging environment.
Strong project management skills and multi-tasking skills.

Each farm is privately operated and adheres to strict pesticide, horticulture best practices, State mandates, and safety procedures to ensure quality results for large-scale cannabis production.
The farms are located in the rural countryside of Northern California and Southern Oregon. Each farm operates either outdoor and/or greenhouse facilities. There are nine licensed farms with outdoor and greenhouse environments. Greenhouses average 3,000 sq. ft and the nine properties maintain a total of 40 greenhouses.
Production and Harvest Crew Members are responsible for assisting with all aspects of the company's cultivation operation from propagation to harvest. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, such as cleaning, cloning, transplanting, pruning plants, planting and resetting rooms as well as various miscellaneous tasks.
Under the supervision of the Director of Cultivation, this team member will ensure that the facility is kept safe and compliant with OSHA standards as well as all state and local regulations at all times. This position will be responsible for following ALL Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as they relate to various aspects of our cultivation and to maintain compliance within our facility at all times.
Production and harvest crew members will be responsible for many key day-to-day tasks that keep our facility operating smoothly and our production cycle on schedule. Having a positive mindset, a capacity to problem-solve, as well as a team-first attitude is critical.
What you will do
- Plant Experience (A PLUS)
- As a team the harvest crew cuts and clears flowering greenhouses
- Harvesting Plants with efficacy
- Performing multiple harvests, a week
- Lifting bins up to 30+lbs
- Cutting and removing plants from greenhouses
- Harvest crew cleans the harvested flower room (Sweep/Mop/Disinfect)
- Harvest crew oversees the drying and curing
- Prepares the product for processing

- Must understand and implement the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company and the harvest department.
- Fundamental knowledge, as well as the ability to be taught and guided in areas related to drying, trimming and curing
- Be able to adhere to cannabis laws, rules and regulations set forth by the state.
- Fundamental knowledge, as well as the ability to be taught and guided in areas related to harvest with other areas being taught as the employee shows interest while still maintaining their capabilities as a harvest technician.
- Skill in analyzing potential problems with a plant or the product being processed.

The Master Grower provides guidance and oversight to nine large-scale farms within an 80-mile radius in the Northern California and Southern Oregon region. The Master Grower will visit all nine farms on a regular basis to ensure the proper watering, growing, and horticulture methods are being utilized. This is a hands-on leadership role. Success metrics will be based on crop yield, crop quality, and most importantly the leadership approach utilized to garner high results. High performers with a poor disposition who do not value a team-oriented environment need not apply.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
- 7-10 years of large-scale cannabis cultivation (outdoor and greenhouse). No home growers, please.
- Formal education and training in horticulture appreciated, but not required
- Familiarity with proper moisture management techniques, proper usage of pesticides according to state, local, and industry regulations, and thorough knowledge of pest control management
- Familiarity with proper nutrient management and testing procedures
- Ability to identify common crop insect and disease problems
- Ability to observe crop stress sign
- Ability to read environmental control panels
- Ability to use nutrient supply systems
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and provide hands-on assistant to aid the propagation of clones
- Oversee (3-5) Farm Managers and provide guidance and direction to ensure plants are being properly tended
- Follow predefined guidelines and make recommendations on chemicals and fertilizers to ensure plants are growing in an ideal environment
- Inspect facilities and ensure proper maintenance is maintained throughout growing areas as needed. Don’t allow for any issues to become larger problems. Take swift action in order to maintain a safe and clean environment
- Work with upper management regarding capital improvement projects that will be vital to the future growth and success of the company
- Prior experience creating a system of organization, standard operating procedures, and inventory management preferred
EXPERIENCE
- At least 7 years of experience with horticulture of a large-scale commercial growing operation in a regulated cannabis program, horticulture operation, or wholesale operation with similar plants
- Leadership skills building and empowering teams in a highly collaborative environment
- Experience in integrated pest management (IPM).
- Strong process management skills.
- Skilled in working with technical experts.
- Skilled in the use of horticulture automation systems
- Skilled in METRC (huge plus!!!)
