Excelbis Laboratories is seeking a qualified lab director for our Santa Ana, CA lab. We are looking for a dynamic, self-starter who is interested in growing with our company. Excelbis Laboratories is a cannabis compliance testing lab. Previous management experience is not required.
Laboratory Director Responsibilities:
· Manages direct reports
· Responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory
· Oversee and maintain methods and SOPs making sure that they are up to date and compliant
· Availability to staff during working hours
· Help to conduct interviews and staff reviews
· Ensure that the laboratory is compliant with ISO and DCC requirements
· Coordinate and implement employee training
Required Skills and Experience:
· Advanced understanding of analytical chemistry and analytical methodologies
· Experience with three or more of the following: LC, LC/MS/MS, GC/MS, ICP-MS, and PCR
· Attention to detail
· Ability to work as part of a team, self-motivating, and a positive attitude
· Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, and follow instructions
· Adept at interpretation of LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, LC, and GC/MS data
· Strong background with analytical chemistry techniques, methods, and calculations
· Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
· Method development and R&D experience a plus
· Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in relevant field such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or chemical engineering. Experience may be substituted for education.
· At least 4 years laboratory experience, preferably in a regulated environment (environmental, pharmaceutical, etc.)

Analytical Chemist

Excelbis labs is a state-of-the-art cannabis testing laboratory located at a prime intersection of the cannabis supply chain of Orange County in Santa Ana, CA. With a team of highly skilled and experienced professionals, our goal is to fulfill our clients’ testing needs with accurate results that can be trusted throughout the industry.
The Analytical Chemist will work closely with the Lab Manager/Director to execute sample analysis for their cannabis clients using a variety of laboratory instruments which include Gas and Liquid Chromatography instruments (GC-MS and LC-MS). We are looking for a reliable individual who is well versed in analytical lab work to join our growing lab team.
Duties and responsibilities:
· Prepare samples for analysis using various methods in accordance with ISO standard operating procedures.
· Perform analytical testing which includes potency; heavy metals; pesticides; residual solvents, and micro-biologic contamination using industrial standard instruments (HPLC, GCMS, GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, and PCR).
· Experience with Shimadzu and AB Sciex equipment preferred.
· Develop and maintain relevant analytical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, control charts, and instrument certifications.
· Perform regular calibrations of equipment, functions are to be performed in an efficient manner with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
· Responsible for routine and non-routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
Experience:
· BSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chem. Engineering, or a related discipline.
· 2+ years of industry experience with HPLC, LC-MS/MS, GCMS and/or GC-MS/MS instrumentation.
· Experience in high-throughput and/or ISO/IEC 17025 accredited labs is a strong plus.
· Prior experience within the cannabis industry is a plus; not required.
· Excellent attention to detail with proactive problem-solving skills.

Scientist I
Education / Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university
OR
Completed 2 years of college or university education that included coursework in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university, plus at least 3 years of full-time practical experience
Responsibilities:
(All actions conducted must be in accordance with DCC and ISO 17025 standards and regulations)
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Aid in the homogenization of samples
- Aid in the sterilization and recirculation of sample preparation materials
- Conduct analysis of foreign matter, moisture content, water activity, and density
- Record pertinent sample information in the LIMS
- Maintain laboratory inventory in the LIMS
- Verify pipettes, analytical balances, dispensers, centrifuge tubes, and environmental factors
- Aliquot samples masses for extraction/digestion
- Extract/digest samples for analysis
- Load sample vials / vessels onto instrumentation
- Build Analytical Batches in instrument software
- Prepare mobile phase and wash solutions
- Any other responsibilities as assigned

Education / Experience Requirements:
Completed 2 years college or university education

Cannabis Lab Technician

Excelbis Labs is a state-of-the-art cannabis testing laboratory located at a prime intersection of the cannabis supply chain of Orange County in Santa Ana, CA. With a team of highly skilled and experienced professionals, our goal is to fulfill our clients’ testing needs with accurate results that can be trusted throughout the industry.
The laboratory technician will assist in the day to day upkeep and support of the laboratory by cleaning laboratory equipment; assisting with sample homogenization; restocking and verifying laboratory supply inventory; disposing of completed sample material; and sample preparation and analysis. Previous experience and a high level of competency in cannabis testing is preferred.
Essential Duties:
- Performs logging and testing of samples.
· Administers moisture content analysis.
· Administers water activity analysis.
· Prepares samples for potency, pesticides, residual solvents, terpenes, and heavy metals testing in accordance with ISO standard operating procedures.
· Sets up samples on all instruments.
· Analyzes data and troubleshoot GC, HPLC, and ICP-MS systems.
· Experience with Shimadzu equipment preferred.
· Performs regular calibrations of equipment.
· Responsible for routine and non-routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
· Maintains validated ISO 17025 standards of performance for analytical chemical testing.
· Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science Degree or greater is preferred however, a relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with the following instrumentation: HPLC, GCMS, and ICPMS.
- Hands-on experience with instrument maintenance and trouble-shooting.
- Experience importing, validating and exporting electronic data in a variety of formats to LIMS.
