Full Job Description
Email Marketing Specialist Company Overview
The Endless Group is a cannabis holding company headquartered in Asheville, NC.
We develop & self-distribute the most satisfying, potent, and effective cannabis products in the southern and midwestern United States.
Many of our products are as strong as what you would buy in a recreational or medical dispensary. Our secret? Scientific innovation and legal ingenuity!
We exist to give Americans in the south & midwest what they really want-- quality cannabis products widely available for safe & legal purchase.
Endless was founded in August of 2019 by Zach Pinnell and Landon Washam. We grew up in Sunday School together, and later attended the same college.
After college, Zach managed the largest sales territory for a Fortune 100 consumer packaged goods business, and, as a Certified Public Accountant, Landon worked as a forensic accountant.
We left our day jobs in 2018 to build a digital marketing agency, then decided to go all-in on cannabis. Two years later, we’ve served ~100,000 customers, our consumer sales are estimated at $5.5 million, and we have a team of 15 people.
Our Brands & Products
This ad is for a job with Endless Brands, which currently holds and services three unique brands in the Endless Group portfolio.
Our hemp flower brand, Legals, claims ~15% of all consumer sales in the hemp flower segment by revenue.
Fitzgerald launched in February ‘21 as a Great Gatsby / Roaring 20’s themed Delta-8 vape brand, and it’s already our largest brand by revenue.
In June, we’re launching an edibles-focused brand called Space Confections, complete with gummies, chocolates, drink powders, and more.
All of our products are distributed through a subsidiary, Endless Distribution, which partners with over 750 small, locally owned convenience stores and liquor stores. By the end of 2021, we will be partnered with over 2,500 stores!
Our brands are so successful because we care so much about our products and the end consumers who enjoy them. It feels so cliche to tell you that our products are of extraordinary quality, but it’s the truth. And we align our products’ brand identities, packaging, and price such that it’s obvious to any observer.
Position Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Email Marketing Specialist to help us build, promote, and support our portfolio of cannabis brands.
To-date, all email marketing activities have been executed by one of our founders. But we’ve grown too much, and he simply doesn’t have the time to write & design as many emails as we need, much less tag, segment, and split-test.
We are underperforming relative to our potential in email & SMS. We need you to build on the foundation we’ve laid.
We want an email marketer working beside us who knows & loves our cannabis products as much as we do, and who is eager to contribute killer communication ideas of their own.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Analyze retail partner sales data in Google Sheets to identify opportunities for more impactful segmentation & effective promotions
- Connect applications via Zapier and native integrations to bring relevant data where you need it
- Engage with our sales team to (a) tease out opportunities that can’t be found in the data, to (b) better understand how our retail trade partners think & how we can better communicate with them, and to ultimately (c) deliver more value to the end consumer
- Prioritize the opportunities in front of you, and collect buy-in for your plans-of-attack from the relevant stakeholders (sales reps, designers, and founders)
- Schedule your campaigns & automations, and collect any resources you need from other team members to send on-time
- Craft clear & concise email copy that compels recipients to take the actions you want them to, or that informs recipients of information we need them to know
- Develop email graphics that support the purposes of the messages, and procure graphics from our design agency & freelancers where necessary
- Utilize custom / dynamic fields to make messages personally relevant to the recipient and their business
- Implement a tagging strategy that allows us to track recipients engagement with our communications over time, and use the data you collect to adjust segments, create new segments, and improve email deliverability
- Ensure our compliance with state & federal communication laws
- Build landing pages, and update our websites (Wordpress & Webflow)
- Develop & modify web forms, such as Typeforms
- Perform design work unrelated to email, on an as-needed basis
Position Support & Management
You will work directly with and report to our Founder / CEO, Zach Pinnell.
To-date, I’ve led our 4 sales reps, designed most or all of our marketing collateral, developed all of our products / brands / packaging, written most of our outside communications, and procured most of our materials.
This hire is part of a larger effort to free up the founders’ plates, and enable specialists to better execute key activities. Founders will coordinate the efforts of our different teams & specialists to ensure everyone is moving in lock-step towards the company’s goals.
In addition to our founders, you will maintain a direct line of communication with our sales team. You will also have access to and budgets for our design agency and some freelance designers, though you will be expected to perform most of your design work.
Our training aligns more with what you will find at other best-in-class start-ups than at large corporations. We want people who prefer to learn on-the-job. We'll teach you one-on-one how you can leverage your knowledge & experience to execute your responsibilities, and we will be very available for questions.
Compensation & Benefits
This role pays a relatively high salary, plus substantial performance bonuses for meeting & exceeding well-defined KPI goals.
In addition to high cash compensation, employees enjoy (1) a flexible schedule with unlimited vacation & holidays, (2) a retirement plan, (3) free product, and (4) healthcare.
Work Schedule & Location
This is a full-time role, but the hours are flexible. Core hours are weekdays from 9AM to 3PM. You choose whether to start at 9AM and finish later, or start earlier and finish at 3PM.
Travel & time-off are considered unlimited. We trust our team to be wise, reasonable, and considerate when planning vacations, holidays, and time-off.
This role can be performed remotely. We will pay for you to have a coworking membership (WeWork or similar) in your city, if you want. Or you can work from home.
If you are located in Asheville, you can work in our clean, mid-sized warehouse in the best part of Asheville (Biltmore Village). It’s within walking distance of our favorite restaurants, shops, and breweries. Our facility has a kitchen, fast wifi, a garden, plenty of parking, fast WiFi, and gender-neutral bathrooms.
What we are Looking for in Candidates

You should be technically inclined-- capable of learning new applications quickly and autonomously. You should be mathematically inclined-- strong with mental math & statistics. These qualities will be assessed during interviews.
If you know cannabis well, that’s a plus. If you’ve performed B2B email marketing, that’s also a plus. If you know the convenience store and / or liquor store business well, that’s a huge plus.
You should have substantial experience with & working knowledge of…
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Google Sheets
- Zapier
- Email Management Systems, such as ActiveCampaign & Klaviyo
- Landing Page Builders and Content Management Systems (Wordpress & Webflow, preferably)
Our People & Culture

Background Checks & Drug Testing
We background check all candidates prior to hire. Candidates will also be drug tested prior to hire, but testing positive for cannabis use will not disqualify you.
Our Hiring Process
We get an unusually large number of applications when we post a new job ad. A lot of people want to work in cannabis-- who could have guessed?
For that reason, we only review serious, qualified candidates who want our company to succeed at our mission as much as we do.
We review your answers to the attached questions before we do anything else. We ask applicants more questions & deeper questions than most companies. You may find some of the questions strange or unusual-- trust that every question is asked for a reason.
We consider applicants who answer all of our questions fully to be serious candidates. We consider applicants who answer our questions well to be qualified candidates. If you don’t answer our questions fully or well, we will quickly skip to the next applicant.
Consider these questions your first interview with us-- an opportunity to demonstrate your talents, expertise, and desire, without having to secure the interview first. Even better-- you have unlimited time to answer the questions well, and you get to write your answers.
Additionally, there will be an option through to record your answers to some standard interview questions. You don't have to do this part, but it will help us to hear how you communicate verbally, and it will make you stand out as an applicant.
If you do each of these things better than most applicants, we will briefly review your resume for more color, then reach out through Indeed to schedule a brief phone interview. If the phone interview goes well, we will schedule a final interview with you.

You are welcome to reach out to us through Indeed, but not through any other means.
