Emerald is seeking an Executive Assistant with experience in leadership support and office management to join our MJBiz team from Lakewood, CO. MJBiz is the most trusted B2B cannabis news source in the US and Canada and runs the industry’s largest trade show, MJBizCon, as well as other events and conferences.
The Executive Assistant will support the three members of the MJBiz leadership team, assisting with everything from scheduling, calendar management, travel arrangements, and expense reports to light research, internal and external communications, and special projects on an as-needed basis. The Executive Assistant will also oversee office management, support culture initiatives, and provide on-site assistance at live events.
The Executive Assistant must be extremely well-organized with great time management and communication skills, and have the ability to proactively anticipate the needs of our executives. Ultimately, the Executive Assistant will contribute to the efficiency of our business by providing personalized and timely support.
Responsibilities
- Manage calendars and provide scheduling support in line with priorities of the executive team
- Coordinate travel arrangements, including selecting flights and hotels and assisting with itinerary changes
- Assist with critical administrative tasks, including formatting presentations / speeches, tracking deliverables and materials, and taking notes in meetings for the executive team
- Communicate with key staff, industry executives/professionals and partners to help ensure reports and requests for assistance, input and/or sign off are handled swiftly and smoothly
- Provide office management support, including ordering and maintaining office supply stock and opening and sorting mail
- Research potential speaking opportunities for the executive team, handle initial applications and follow-up, and maintain related tracking spreadsheet
- Organize internal and off-site events (rented meeting space, reservations, etc.), send and manage invites, and ensure successful execution
- Process receipts and month-end close for travel and purchasing-related credit cards
- Contribute to special projects on an as-needed basis
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience directly supporting executives / company leaders, proactively suggesting opportunities that contribute to their efficiency and identifying areas that may require additional support
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to correspond in a friendly, highly professional manner with all levels of individuals within and external to an organization
- Exceptional organizational skills, including time management, data entry/management and juggling multiple priorities
- Ability to utilize PowerPoint, Excel and communications platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom
- Flexibility to flourish in an ever-changing environment within a growing and rapidly-evolving company.
- Ability to travel to MJBizCon annually and to other events as needed

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Targeted Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000

business of cannabis retail to join our MJBiz team. MJBizDaily is the most trusted B2B news source for the cannabis industry in the US and Canada, producing online news services, newsletters, magazines, and major trade shows.
The Retail Writer will be the lead writer on MJBiz's in-house content team. Coverage provided will be a combination of news and analysis and evergreen content. This position will be responsible for writing a weeky newsletter for cannabis entrepreneurs and for contributing roughly 2 stories a week to MJBizDaily.com. Our primary audience is owners of retail cannabis businesses, whether they run a single store front or a multi-state business, with a focus on adult-use or medical.
The Retail Writer will also curate a newly launching MJBiz Retailer Instagram account, supplying images of new products, store designs and people with content, along with helping our conference content team to build the right content for their audiences.

This position is responsible for developing organic growth in the CBD, Hemp, and Cannabis sector and establish relationships that promote retention and loyalty. This role will maintain responsibility for optimizing the customer experience at our events, establishing Emerald's presence in the industry, and maintaining relationships throughout this community. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide deeper customer engagement as a Brand Ambassador within the specific vendor, speaker and attendee categories assigned to elevate the Emerald brand.
- Facilitate and execute assigned new and retention sales campaigns, completing forecasts and working in tandem with Attendee Marketing team on attendee development strategies to align with current vendor development strategies and enhance our vendor matchmaking programs
- Continuously analyze the needs of current clients and work with management to propose programs that meet those needs to successfully expand client business at Emerald's events and maximize their ROI, while continuing to grow account base YOY.
- Listen to existing and prospective customers to understand their needs and identify how Emerald can address and solve them.
- After gaining an understanding of market needs, make certain that trade show effectively addresses those needs, providing deeper customer engagement.
- Maintain participation of key existing customers (30% of your time) while spending 50% of your time winning participation of new vendors and speakers and 20% of your time on floor planning, merchandising, sales forecasting and assisting as needed with collections and customer service to new vendors.
- Identify new products, trends and opportunities for the key sectors when appropriate
- Generate year-over-year improved revenue growth in booth space, sponsorship, and digital and offer client feedback to marketing team on attendee growth opportunities to better connect our vendors with theirs.
- Assist customers and arrange payment terms in accordance with established guidelines.
- Effective use of Salesforce to track overall performance of assigned client base.
- Attend team meetings as assigned to strategize, seek out marketing support, discuss revenue growth opportunities, solve client issues, and share competitive information.
- Provide consistent communication to management, team, and clients regarding challenges and opportunities.
- A general understanding of the collection of contracts/payments/collections, operations, marketing, sales, and administrative functions of the business are all required.
- Attend competitive events, sales seminars, and/or educational activities to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and trends in the key sectors served and within the trade show industry for self-development.
REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of the CBD/Hemp/Cannabis industries a major plus
- 5+ years of Sales experience and the ability to solve tough customer problems is needed
- Qualified candidate should possess the ability and experience to build strategic relationships with key vendors, associations, speakers and attendees while at the same time consistently working with sales management to develop new leads to prospect to
- Experience in selling marketing and sponsorship programs a plus
- Accurate and timely sales forecasting
- A general understanding of the collection of contracts/payments/collections, operations, marketing, sales, and administrative functions of the business are all required
- Ability to travel 12+ times per year as well as some local travel as required to meet with prospective clients, trend spotting, and attend industry events
- Computer literate in all aspects of Microsoft office a must. Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM a plus
- Manage across brands sharing information in an organized fashion and able to meet deadlines for show cycle
- Highly organized; excellent oral, written and listening communication skills; highly focused attention to detail; a professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills; able to work independently and as a team player across several team platforms
- Strong attention to detail in finishing projects a must. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and interact with all levels of management
