During this exciting time for controlled environment agriculture (CEA), we are on the frontlines of the industry, delivering HVAC solutions to indoor farmers and greenhouse growers that maximize crop productivity and increase profitability. We are looking for a team member who is passionate about indoor agriculture and enjoys the theory and application of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and fluid dynamics to support the team with HVAC design and engineering projects. Potential candidates should be self-motivated, relationship-focused, purpose-driven, and have excellent communication skills, a strong desire to learn, and a genuine interest in CEA.
Job Responsibilities of Engineering Designer:
Synthesize information provided by our clients to calculate the cooling, heating, and moisture loads to support HVAC system selections.
Analyze climate data to model and predict greenhouse temperature, humidity, and light levels under various and variable indoor and outdoor conditions.
Develop models to predict energy use and operating costs of HVAC equipment.
Assist with evaluating and specifying equipment used to manage the indoor plant environment.

- Prepare written reports to communicate methods and results to clients.
Communicate and coordinate with team members and clients.
Support team and company in priorities and tasks to meet project deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have the following Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Mechanical, Agricultural, or Biosystems Engineering.
Licensed EIT or ability to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam within 12 months of employment.
Practical and theoretical knowledge of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, psychrometrics, solar radiation, and HVAC.
Excellent quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel.
Drafting experience, especially using AutoCAD or Vector Works.
Effective communication style, both written and verbal.
Proven ability to be productive in a hybrid work environment where tasks and meetings are performed both remotely and in person.
Strong time management skills, with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
Ability to take direction and take initiative.
Easy and fun to work with.
Enthusiasm and self-motivation to learn new and complex systems.
Passion for horticulture, agriculture, cannabis, and the food industry, in general.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
0-5 years of experience working under the supervision of a Project Engineer to design and/or specify HVAC systems.
