Position Description:
As one of the first cannabis testing laboratories in Arizona, Desert Valley Testing continues to be the leader in analytical testing for cannabis products. We are an ISO 17025:2017 accredited laboratory and are licensed by the State of Arizona Department of Health Services for medical marijuana testing.
As a rapidly growing company, we are always looking for passionate, highly motivated individuals to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to work both independently as well as in a team setting. Good communication skills and attention to detail are crucial to be successful as a microbiology technician. Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Extracting for, running and analyzing PCR
- Aseptically sampling a variety of cannabis based products.
- Preparing media for sample enrichment and plating.
- Aseptically plating and analyzing plates. Accurately recording results on paper and within a LIMS.
- Monitoring equipment logs and temperature logs for discrepancies or equipment out of range.
- Maintaining general laboratory cleanliness.
- Preparing samples for microbial testing according to DVT's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Receiving and logging standards and reagents into DVT's LIMS.
- Accurately recording volumes on logs.
- Communicating with technicians and office staff throughout the workday, maintaining laboratory cleanliness and completing general office duties.
- Completing daily checklists for the department and assisting the Lead Microbiology Technician and Laboratory Director with additional projects or tasks.
Requirements/Characteristics:
- BS degree in science related field AND 2-3 years of PCR experience
- Must undergo a criminal background check.
- May be required to work weekends.
- Highly motivated, self-starter.
- Maintain accurate documentation. Candidate must have legible handwriting.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with management and coworkers.
- Display a strong personal commitment to successfully completing all projects.
- Show eagerness and capacity to learn.
- Demonstrate effective allocation of time resources.
- Work efficiently in fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
