We are seeking an eager and passionate Litigation Attorney to join our Seattle, WA office. This attorney will support the managing attorney for the Seattle office doing litigation work related to business and regulatory disputes associated with the cannabis industry and will work collaboratively with other members of the Cultiva offices in Washington, Washington and California to analyze new business, assist with current client workload, and to help grow the firm’s presence.
Outstanding writing skills and proven litigation experience, up through trial are a prerequisite and this attorney must be able to make and communicate difficult decisions, handle multiple complex situations, and produce high quality work while advocating for our clients under time pressure and during disputes. We are responsible for helping our clients solve exciting business and regulatory challenges in a rapidly growing, constantly changing, emerging market and are seeking someone who is excited to learn and grow with the industry.
Qualifications
- Washington Bar license (required)
- Interest or experience in Cannabis Law
- Litigation experience, drafting pleadings, managing files, depositions, arbitrations and trial
- Exceptional writing (writing sample required) and communication skills
- Legal Research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead initiatives, a person who can work independently but also knows how to work well with others as part of a team
- A high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment

Cultiva Law, PLLC is seeking a skilled paralegal to join our thriving Portland office. Cultiva Law is the West Coast’s premier, full-service cannabis and hemp business law firm. Offering a multitalented team comprised of well-versed and versatile strategic legal counsel, our attorneys and staff are uniquely talented in all aspects of Transactional Law, Compliance, Regulatory Law, and Civil Litigation.
This is a self-starter position that requires the ability to work independently but also take direction and work within a dynamic team. We appreciate the ability to “think outside the box” and problem solve efficiently. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, ability to prioritize and manage deadlines, have strong verbal and written communication skills, and be detail oriented. Most importantly, we seek candidates with a sense of self-accountability who are driven to improve and excel.
Qualified candidates will have experience in the following areas:
- A minimum of 3 years Oregon litigation experience with a paralegal degree from an ABA accredited program.
- Filing pleadings and other legal documents with the State and Federal court filing systems in Oregon. Experience in Washington and California preferred but not required.
- Draft discovery.
- Organizing and maintain files and binders; updating case information sheets, pleading indexes, etc.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Drafting, typing, editing and proofreading correspondence and other documents; prepare and send final documents.
- Submitting conflict checks and open new matters; case file management, and closure of Client files.
- Scheduling court dates, appointments, meetings, travel arrangements, etc.
- Communicating and coordinate with clients, potential clients, other counsel and their assistants, court officials, messenger services, etc.
- Maintain calendars, establish and maintain deadline reminder system.
- Organizing and filing internal office documents. Computer proficiency with Mac OS, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and time/case management software, i.e. Clio.
