Cox Cactus Farm is a wholesale grower in North Phoenix providing a large selection of quality plant material and exceptional customer service to landscape contractors and nurseries throughout Arizona. We are a fast growing company seeking a Grower to oversee 180 acres of plants.
This is a full-time position working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Grower
The Grower will manage commercial scale growing and perform all tasks necessary from graphing, soil management, water injections, fixing related issues, pest management & prevention, and all research related too.
Job Functions
- Optimize growing strategies to achieve high quality, high yield, high performance plant growth.
- Manage growing in a large-scale.
- Work with a management team to maintain organization and control of operation.
- Manage graphing, pest control, plant health, etc.
- Ensure product quality and yields are achieved.
- Develop and maintain SOP’s related to all growing processes to be used by employees.
- Continually update the team on new techniques, plant or soil findings, and processes to constantly improve.
- Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiencies and reduce operating costs.
Job Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Required
- Bachelor’s degree, Preferred
Experience:
- 5+ years in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Plant Science or another related field, preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:
- Pesticide Applicator License, preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Spanish speaking preferred
- Significant knowledge in plant physiology and pathology.
- Working knowledge of techniques used for the production and culture of cactus and desert plants.
- Ability to create bio-plans and constantly strive to improve and increase production and minimize waste.
- Knowledge of water chemistry and equipment used to evaluate water quality parameters.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to perform under strong demands in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule Expectations
- Primary hours to be first shift, modified as needed to match against needs of systems and plants.
- Will include some evenings and weekends.
- Flexible and willing to work extended hours, when necessary.
- On-call shifts as needed over weekends, nights, and holidays to respond to system alarms, on rotation with other members and management.
- Travel up to 10%

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
