Responsibilities
- Manage the front desk and maintain organization of company documents

We are seeking applicants to fill the role of Laboratory Manager in our California Laboratory.
Position Summary:
The Laboratory Manager (Lab Manager) is responsible for managing the daily operations of the laboratory. The Lab Manager brings together their managerial skills and knowledge of lab and safety procedures to ensure that the laboratory operates safely and efficiently. Duties include training Laboratory Analysts on SOPs, correct use of lab equipment, safety procedures, and proper etiquette when working in the lab. It is the Lab Manager’s responsibility to keep track of inventory and purchase new supplies when necessary and/or to delegate this responsibility as necessary. The Lab Manager ensures all equipment is functional and properly maintained, calibrated and documented. The Lab Manager responds to Laboratory Analysts’ questions and concerns, and ensures that the lab has all structures and practices in place to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate processing of samples.
The Lab Manager is responsible for collaborating with the Quality Assurance Director to ensure ISO compliance in the California Laboratory. They will also work with HR for personnel management of lab staff; such as scheduling, employee development, performance assessment, etc.
Requirement(s):
The opportunity is for laboratory positions Analyst I, Analyst II, and Laboratory Manager. The DCC requires that the candidate must have, at minimum, EITHER:
(1) Earned a master’s degree OR a bachelor’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural,
environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university;
OR
(2) Completed 2 years of college or university education that included coursework in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university, plus at least 3 years of full-time practical experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Know and be able to perform all key responsibilities for Laboratory Analyst 1 & 2.
- Train Laboratory Analysts on SOPs, proper use of lab equipment, waste disposal, and safety procedures.
- Assist in developing and maintaining training materials for Lab Analysts.
- Update documentation as training processes change.
- Assist in oversight of Laboratory Analyst’s DOCs and ensure that they are maintaining their successful DOC status.
- Facilitate open and honest communication between all lab members. Respond to employees’ requests and concerns. Ensure that information is being accurately transmitted from the front desk to the laboratory, and vice versa.
- Understand regulatory requirements specific to this laboratory and ensure all analysts are in compliance with those standards.
- Be thoroughly knowledgeable on all procedures in the lab, and constantly be searching for and implementing new practices to maximize efficiency and minimize error.
- Maintain laboratory supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipate needed supplies, place orders for supplies, and verify receipt of supplies.
- Complete a monthly expense report detailing purchases made.
- Delegate these responsibilities as appropriate.
- Equipment
- Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and functional by performing required preventative maintenance.
- Receive new equipment and assign an ID.
- Create equipment packets for new items.
- Add equipment to the equipment list.
- Send out pipettes, dispensers, and thermometers for calibration.
- Occasionally fix broken equipment.
- Validate new equipment.
- Ensure quarterly pipette checks are done.
- Organize, maintain and update all documentation for all pieces of equipment, including instrument manuals, error logs, maintenance schedules, calibration certificates, etc.
- Calibrate all measuring equipment (balances, thermometers, weights, pipettes) on a regular basis to ensure that all devices are accurate, reliable and consistent.
- Following the Quality Department's direction, ensure that calibrations are executed in a timely fashion.
- Purchase all necessary replacement parts for equipment.
- Schedule disposal of dangerous waste on a timely basis so the laboratory remains under the limit for local storage requirements.
- Maintain all structures and take all actions necessary to ensure that the laboratory operates smoothly and consistently, and all samples are processed in a professional and timely manner.

Necessary Skills
- Strong leadership skills.

Position Summary:
The Operations (Ops) Manager is responsible for ensuring that duties of the operations department are carried out smoothly each day. Coordination and good communication across all departments is a key component of operations management. The Ops manager must possess a firm understanding of the day to day activities of the business and be able to coordinate effectively within and between departments.
The Ops Manager will maintain good working relationships with customers to the extent that such good working relationships are achievable. The Ops Manager will maintain an understanding of the customer base, will work to grow the customer base, and where appropriate will delegate responsibilities to staff members for communication and follow through with customers. The Ops manager will act as the outward face of the company in matters where customer interaction is of importance.
Ops Managers will ensure all necessary accounting tasks are completed in a timely fashion and that company financials related to accounts receivable and accounts payable (AR/AP) are current. The Ops Manager will ensure all legal requirements and testing requirements are communicated effectively to staff and the customer base. We are seeking an entry-level analyst/technician to support our laboratory operations and grow with our team.
Position Summary:
Laboratory Analyst 1 personnel are responsible for routine activities in the lab, performing Compliance Tests and R & D tests on a variety of cannabis products. Lab Analyst 1 employees prepare samples to analyze loss on drying, water activity, foreign matter, cannabinoid concentrations, microbial contamination, terpenes, residual solvents, mycotoxins, chemical residues/pesticides, heavy metals, and other tests as needed. Analysts are required to keep lab facilities clean and orderly to facilitate accurate and efficient testing. Analysts track all work to ensure data is entered to the Confidence Analytics Laboratory software system correctly and in a timely fashion.
Key Responsibilities:
-Weigh and photograph each sample and record sample notes as needed.
-Ensure samples are properly labelled throughout all phases of the testing process.
-Prepare and label sample test tubes and vials for various tests.
-Examine samples for foreign matter and macroscopic contaminants such as spider mites or mold and inspect samples with a microscope when needed.
-Prepare samples for testing, closely following the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for each test.
-Collect and weigh sub-samples for HPLC, microbial analysis, and GC-FID, GCMS, ICP-MS, and LCMS.
-Ensure timely and accurate entry of data into the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) at every step.
-Accurately dispense appropriate solvents and perform dilutions.
-Operate vortexer, ball mill, sonicator, and centrifuge.
-Configure sequences and set up runs on various instrumentation.
-Prepare samples for microbial samples using PCR.
-Maintain sample chain of custody from intake through sample storage, archive, and disposal.
-Clean equipment and laboratory area daily and properly dispose of laboratory wastes.
-Safely handle and ensure proper disposal of potentially hazardous materials.
-Adhere to safety and sanitation standards including use of goggles, lab coats, appropriate footwear, etc.
-Other duties as required.
Requirement(s):

- Experience with LIMS/ERP/MRP or similar systems

We are seeking an entry-level analyst/technician to support our laboratory operations and grow with our team.
Position Summary
Laboratory Analyst 1 personnel are responsible for routine activities in the lab, performing I-502 and R & D tests on a variety of cannabis products. Lab Analyst 1 employees prepare samples to analyze loss on drying, water activity, foreign matter, cannabinoid concentrations, microbial contamination, terpenes, residual solvents, mycotoxins, chemical residues/pesticides, and other tests as needed. Analysts are required to keep lab facilities clean and orderly to facilitate accurate and efficient testing. Analysts track all work to ensure data is entered to the Confidence Analytics Laboratory software system correctly and in a timely fashion.
Key Responsibilities
- Weigh and photograph each sample and record sample notes as needed.
- Ensure samples are properly labeled throughout all phases of the testing process.
- Prepare and label sample test tubes and vials for various tests.
- Examine samples for foreign matter and macroscopic contaminants such as spider mites or mold and inspect samples with a microscope when needed.
- Prepare samples for testing, closely following the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for each test.
- Collect and weigh sub-samples for HPLC, microbial analysis, and GC-FID, GCMS, and LCMS.
- Ensure timely and accurate entry of data into the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) at every step.
- Accurately dispense appropriate solvents and perform dilutions.
- Operate vortexer, ball mill, sonicator, and centrifuge.
- Configure sequences and set up runs on various instrumentation.
- Prepare agar plates for microbial enumerations.
- Operate spiral plater.
- Perform microbial colony counts according to SOP.
- Maintain sample chain of custody from intake through sample storage, archive, and disposal.
- Clean equipment and laboratory area daily and properly dispose of laboratory wastes.
- Safely handle and ensure proper disposal of potentially hazardous materials.
- Adhere to safety and sanitation standards including use of goggles, lab coats, appropriate footwear, etc.
- Other duties as required.
Skills, Traits, and Qualifications
- Accuracy and attention to detail, both with physical tasks and data entry.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and strictly adhere to SOPs.
- Understanding of basic lab procedures and terminology, including use of logs and laboratory notebooks.
- Familiarity with proper use of common lab equipment including, but not limited to: analytical balance, pipette, centrifuge, and microscope.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks without sacrificing performance.
- Communicates well with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to work independently once trained.
- Curious about cannabis chemistry and open to growth.

Availability
This is a full-time position requiring a commitment of 32-40 hours per week. Weekend availability is required.

This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of this growing industry.
Drivers are responsible for picking up cannabis samples and transporting them to the Confidence Analytics (referred to as CA) laboratory in a safe and secure manner while also following all the regulations required by I-502 law. As drivers have direct face to face contact with our clients, they are expected to behave professionally as well as maintain a high level of confidentiality. Drivers must also be able to effectively communicate any discrepancies with the client and instruct them on CA labeling practices when required.
Responsibilities:
-Receive samples per state requirements.
-Ensure samples are properly bar-coded and labeled.
-File transportation manifests accurately and within required timelines.
-Be knowledgeable about I-502 guidelines and CA practices.
-Conduct oneself in a professional manner and ensure quality communication with clients.
-Follow all driving laws to the fullest and maintain a clean driving record outside of work.
-Maintain security of all cannabis materials in the vehicle for safe transport back to the lab.
-Communicate back to management important customer information.
