Bud's Goods & Provisions is hiring a Director of Retail to oversee the management of our three award-winning adult-use cannabis retail stores in Massachusetts. This role would be responsible for the performance of the stores as well as the performance of the managers and staff. The Director of Retail is a support for the retail managers and will be their direct link to corporate.
Success in this role is achieved by meeting KPI goals and effectively implementing directives from corporate in the stores. These KPIs include revenue goals, customer subscription goals, compliance objectives, store presentation, and employee satisfaction and retention. The Director of Retail will identify where the company can streamline the operations between the stores and implement efficiencies. The Director of Retail ensures all stores are operating at their full potential with regard to staffing, guest experience, store cleanliness, and error-free transactions.
This role will report to Bud's Chief Operating Officer. This role works closely with Human Resources and Compliance. This role requires open availability and is expected to be "on call" for escalated, time-sensitive retail issues outside of typical office hours. Being the Director of Retail requires a minimum of 70% travel to our retail locations (Worcester, Abington, and Watertown). The Director of Retail role will also contribute to Bud's Goods & Provisions' responsibilities per any future advisory agreements made to support other retails in the state.
Job Duties
- Manage Bud's retail operations teams with a responsibility for maximizing revenue and profitability of Bud's owned and managed dispensaries
- Responsible for short-term and long-term planning in areas of retail budgeting, goal-setting, and performance efficiencies for all retail locations with a focus on continuous improvement
- Lead retail teams to drive efficiency with in-store scheduling, payroll forecasting, reporting and the administration of employee incentive programs
- Monitor and report on company-wide retail KPIs and operational metrics to Management; analyze KPIs by location and report on progress weekly/monthly/annually (KPIs will include revenue goals and staff turnover rates)
- Work with dispensary managers on meeting and monitoring store-level KPIs; set and enforce sales, service, and revenue goals while leading teams to exceed them
- Oversee and assist in recruitment of retail staff across all locations; maintain optimal staffing levels in accordance with budgets; work with HR to support training tools and new hire onboarding processes
- Evaluate current retail operational procedures and develop and implement policies in coordination with compliance and HR teams
- Responsible for day-to-day operations at all retail locations, spending sufficient time at each store on a weekly basis
- Prioritize and delegate responsibilities to managers, setting clear and attainable expectations across all roles
- Create and ensure a consistent in-store experience for customers across all retail locations
- Create and ensure a consistent employee experience across all retail locations while maintaining positive morale, collaboration, and accountability
- Develop and implement staff training that is consistent across the retail stores
- Communicates executive directives to dispensary management and staff
- Ensure effective and efficient communication between Purchasing department and retail inventory teams
- Implement initiatives and campaigns as directed by creative and marketing teams
- Guide and assist in resolution of inventory discrepancies; implement and monitor company-wide procedures to increase rate of transaction accuracy
- Ensure dispensaries operate in compliance with all local and state laws, as well as the Company's operational standards
- Support the retail managers in handling staffing issues and terminations
- Oversee retail facilities maintenance and building/facility issues (e.g. AC, heating, plumbing, cash pickups, snow removal)
- Direct all in-store IT functions for POS and operating systems in collaboration with third-party IT service provider, working with IT to trouble shoot, fix, and/or partnering with customer support to resolve issues
- Responsible for implementation of company-wide retail initiatives and delegating tasks to store managers as directed by Management (e.g. customer reward programs, POS updates)
- Serve as a leader and champion of Bud's values in the retail stores
- Identify where the company can streamline processes between all retail locations to create efficiency

The Sales Associate guides the guest through their retail experience and dispenses cannabis and cannabis products in a sales transaction. This position is responsible for providing the exact product selected by the guest and maintaining compliance throughout the entire dispensing and sales experience. The Sales Associate is confidently able to answer guest questions about Cannabis use and administration and ensures an overall outstanding guest experience. The Sales Associate is supported by the other Sales Associates and is supervised by Assistant Retail Managers and the Retail Manager. The Sales Associate is our last line of defense in preventing sales to minors and theft. They remain diligent at their posts and aware of the products they are responsible for at all times.
The Sales Associate is a friendly and professional presence. They use terms for cannabis and cannabis products that represent the brand instead of common street slang. The Sales Associate knows the menu and has passionate cannabis-specific knowledge allowing them to confidently answer questions from our guests about such topics as strain lineage, instructions for use across all consumption methods, commonly known effects of each product, and where the product was sourced. The Sales Associate represents the values of our brand and is considered an ambassador of our brand both on and off the clock. The Sales Associate meets our guests well more than halfway and ensures an easy, informative sales experience. The Sales Associate will at times be assigned to the front desk or parking lot detail. . They maintain a welcoming, high energy demeanor throughout all interactions with guests, always focused on providing lasting positive feelings associated with their visit. They assist in controlling the pace and flow of the guests into the retail, following standard procedures as outlined in the procedural manual. A Day in the Life of a Sales Associate
You start your day by placing your personal belongings in a locker, putting on on your ID badge. You ready yourself to go on stage. You punch your timecard and report to the Manager on duty to receive your assignment for the day. If you are on an opening shift, you will check out your cash till from the Retail Manager and confirm your inventory with the Inventory team. You ensure your station is tidy and ready to serve guests. You will then participate in a brief morning meeting to learn about the day's special considerations.
Once the store opens, you will provide seamlessly welcoming and helpful service to every guest who enters the store. You will balance customer service with efficiency and lead the interaction to ensure the consistent flow of guests through the retail. At times you may be on the retail floor itself interacting with guests and performing as a floating Sales Associate. Other times you may be at the front desk or outside checking ID's and greeting guests, or in the office taking phone orders.
At the end of your scheduled shift, you will print your sales report for the day. You will remove your cash till and take it to the cash counting area and ensure the balance is accurate with the sales report. Job Duties
- Dispensing cannabis and cannabis products following strict guidelines to remain in compliance with Cannabis Control Commission regulations at all times
- Becoming well-versed in Metrc and in using a point of sale (POS) to complete transactions
- Having an advanced expressive knowledge of cannabis and cannabis products and all the different consumption methods and storage requirements of all products on the menu
- Accurately making change for guests and following money handling protocols to manage a cash till and POS station

The Sales Associate guides the guest through their retail experience and dispenses cannabis and cannabis products in a sales transaction. This position is responsible for providing the exact product selected by the guest and maintaining compliance throughout the entire dispensing and sales experience. The Sales Associate is confidently able to answer guest questions about Cannabis use and administration and ensures an overall outstanding guest experience. The Sales Associate is supported by the other Sales Associates and is supervised by Assistant Retail Managers and the Retail Manager. The Sales Associate is our last line of defense in preventing sales to minors and theft. They remain diligent at their posts and aware of the products they are responsible for at all times.
The Sales Associate is a friendly and professional presence. They use terms for cannabis and cannabis products that represent the brand instead of common street slang. The Sales Associate knows the menu and has passionate cannabis-specific knowledge allowing them to confidently answer questions from our guests about such topics as strain lineage, instructions for use across all consumption methods, commonly known effects of each product, and where the product was sourced. A Day in the Life of a Sales Associate
You start your day by placing your personal belongings in a locker, putting on on your ID badge. You ready yourself to go on stage. You punch your timecard and report to the Manager on duty to receive your assignment for the day. If you are on an opening shift, you will check out your cash till from the Retail Manager and confirm your inventory with the Inventory team. You ensure your station is tidy and ready to serve guests. You will then participate in a brief morning meeting to learn about the day's special considerations.
Once the store opens, you will provide seamlessly welcoming and helpful service to every guest who enters the store. You will balance customer service with efficiency and lead the interaction to ensure the consistent flow of guests through the retail. At times you may be on the retail floor itself interacting with guests and performing as a floating Sales Associate. Other times you may be at the front desk or outside checking ID's and greeting guests, or in the office taking phone orders.

If you are on an opening shift, you will check out your cash till from the Retail Manager and confirm your inventory with the Inventory team. You
ensure your station is tidy and ready to serve guests. You will then participate in a brief morning meeting to learn about the day’s special considerations.
Once the store opens, you will provide seamlessly welcoming and helpful service to every guest who enters the store. You will balance customer service with efficiency and lead the interaction to ensure the consistent flow of guests through the retail. At times you may be on the retail floor itself interacting with guests and performing as a floating Sales Associate. Other times you may be at the front desk or outside checking ID’s and greeting guests, or in the office taking phone orders.
At the end of your scheduled shift, you will print your sales report for the day. You will remove your cash till and take it to the cash counting area and ensure the balance is accurate with the sales report. You will present it to the Manager on duty and once they have approved it, you may clock out, take off your ID badge, gather your personal belongings and leave for the day, feeling good about how many people you made smile that day.

Bud's Goods & Provisions is a cannabis retail opening in Worcester this fall. We are seeking an Inventory Specialist, someone strong in arithmetic and even stronger with organization.
Job Duties
- Manage the compliance of all cannabis products.
- Organize the vault and know exactly where every item is located.
- Provide real time reporting of inventory par levels.
- Forecast inventory needs using all available data.
- Assist with putting together purchase orders for cannabis inventory.
- Perform routine audits to confirm all inventory is present.
- Manage compliance using the Metrc cannabis tracking system.
- Facilitate the intake of all cannabis products.
- Perform inbound and outbound transfers in Metrc.
- Confirm quality control of all cannabis products.
- Confirm proper storage of all cannabis products.
- Confirm all labels are current and compliant, and re-label as necessary.
- Ensure products are in a First In First Out (FIFO) organization.
- Manage and keep current the standard operating procedures of inventory control.
- Support the coverage of shifts when needed by the Retail Manager
- Manage all quarantined products as dictated by the Cannabis Control Commission.
- Manage all returned cannabis, accessories, and other merchandise.
- Prepare and reconcile cash drawers.
- Communicate with the retail manager about foreseeable inventory needs.
- Order packaging and labeling materials.
- Manage the compliance and organization of the vault.
- Assist the Retail Manager with cash handling and cash security.
- Assist the Retail Manager and Leadership Team with purchasing of cannabis and cannabis products.
- Manage the product menus and communication regarding product availability.
- Portion, package, and label cannabis flower only as needed.
- Provide reports to the Leadership Team.
- Track market trends in order to forecast inventory needs.
- Anticipate holidays and seasonal events that effect inventory needs.

- Provide a safe environment for our staff and our guests.
