To that end, we are seeking an Assistant Dispensary Manager for our newly opened Roselle Park location to help support a dispensary environment that is consistent with Breakwater’s overall vision. This person will collaborate with and take direction from the Dispensary Manager and Retail General Manager across customer service, people management, and general operations and administrative responsibilities. The right person for this role should have a proven track record of sales results, some experience leading or managing retail teams, and a desire to learn and grow into a Dispensary Manager role. They need to be able to take direction well while being able to engage in constructive disagreement with the retail management team. The ideal candidate for this role should have 1-2 years of leadership experience in a retail setting in industries that are fast-paced, high volume, and have high standards of customer service.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Embodying the Breakwater Way
- Understand and foster company vision; Able to relay salient details to dispensary team to ensure consistent, quality communication within the organization and to our patients
- Set the tone for intrapersonal and customer service interactions through leading by example
- Handle escalated patient issues such as returns, discounts, and complaints
- Support the Dispensary Manager in creating a dispensary atmosphere that is consistent with Breakwater’s culture and customer service philosophy
Developing The Team
- Train and certify training of new dispensary employees; audit performance and correct gaps in training where necessary
- Handle employee matters such as orientation, systems access, routine check-ins, and interpersonal conflicts
- Provide timely and ongoing corrective action as needed including but not limited to: setting goals, delivering feedback, issuing warnings, conducting bi-annual reviews
Operating The Dispensary
- Administer day to day operations of the dispensary, including performing opening / closing checklists, running the floor during peak sales hours, overseeing cash handling, sending / checking daily compliance reports, and inventory management
- Monitor performance of and identify issues with various sales channels (in-person, online ordering, delivery, etc)
- Ensure system compliance with company policies and with state regulations that impact daily retail dispensary operations
- Ensure Visual Merchandising standards set out by the Retail GM and Visual Merchandising Manager are upheld to create clean and aesthetically pleasing store
- Execute projects as defined by Dispensary Manager and Retail General Manager
Skills & Experience
- 2-5 years of leadership / supervisory experience in high-volume, fast-paced retail environments
- Uncompromising focus on customer service and bringing the best possible experience to our patients
- Proven ability to drive and maintain sales results
- Ability to identify and train dispensary staff; auditing and certify progression through training programs where they are not the trainer

They make sure all packaging components are clean and that final packages are in compliance with state regulations. Additionally, they help communicate our brand through proper and precise placement of strain specific labels.
The right person for this role will be highly detail-oriented: able to identify issues with the product, jars, tops, labels, and extracted product components (such as cartridge tops). They should be able to work at a fast and steady pace for long periods of time while maintaining quality standards along the way. They must be able to keep their work station clean and contribute to the overall maintenance and cleanliness of our packaging rooms. The person in this role should also be reliable, able to show up consistently for scheduled shifts to allow us to hit our production goals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conducting preparatory cleaning work of packaging components: jars, tops, bottles, cartridges, etc.
- Maintaining awareness of work schedule and self-managing to ensure you are on track with the day’s tasks
- Identifying issues with inventory and collaborating with Packaging Leads to ensure supplies are stocked and ordered
- Conducting routine cleaning such as vacuuming, sweeping, and sanitizing surfaces daily, eliminating contaminants like cardboard/styrofoam near sensitive items, following direction of Leads to keep room organized
- Assembling, disassembling, and cleaning packaging equipment
- Accurately weighing and packaging premium buds with our high standards of quality in mind; labeling with Breakwater branded labels as well as state compliance labels
- Capping, bagging, and labeling cartridges, concentrated oils, topical dropper bottles, and lozenges
- Quality controlling various elements/products, identifying issues to Leads, and removing compromised items
- Properly labeling and organizing unfinished products
- Training new employees or temporary helpers on packaging processes, informing lead or manager if any processes are unclear
Skills & Experience:
- Able to work at a consistent and efficient pace for long periods of time on routine tasks
- Strong attention to detail: can spot issues and report to leads and managers as needed, can successfully assemble / disassemble equipment as directed

We are looking for an Extraction Technician to join our production team and help evolve the department as we expand. The person in this role will be responsible for the extraction and post processing of cannabis, as well as analytics. The position reports directly to the Lab Manager and is expected to perform their role in accordance with company policy, rules, and regulations. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Operate terpene extraction, cannabinoid ethanol extraction, and solvent recovery systems
- Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on extraction and distillation equipment
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and use critical thinking and good judgment to identify and escalate questions and problems not covered by SOPs
- Create and maintain pristine batch records by logging and tracking lab related information
- Learn and navigate inventory tracking system (LeafLogix) in order to accurately and efficiently execute common tasks

In addition, this person will be responsible for identifying packaging solutions as we expand the scale and scope of our product offerings. These solutions could include changing the team design, developing new packaging processes, and implementing technology to increase efficiency and quality. They will partner with other departments to develop packaging schedules and ensure products are packaged and delivered in a timely manner to the relevant retail locations. The person in this role should have at least 3 years of people management experience in a setting where large volumes of consumer packaged goods are being packaged and sold. They should be organized, detail-oriented, and be able to set and hold a high standard for the quality of the end product. This role entails a blend of dispensary employee responsibilities and assisting management with day-to-day operations and the team’s development.

Dispensary Operations
- Store Operations: Assists management with daily dispensary operations including the following: performing opening / closing checklists, running the floor during peak sales hours, cash handling and inventory management.
- Awareness & Adaptability: Maintains the dispensary needs by multi-tasking, being detail-oriented, and developing solutions to problems. Can make sound decisions on the fly to ensure all areas of the dispensary operations are running smoothly. Understands we are in a dynamic business and can adapt to Breakwater’s needs
- Compliance: Ensure system compliance with company policies and state regulations that apply to daily retail dispensary operations.
*Skills & Experience

- 1-2 years of leadership / supervisory experience in a high-volume, fast-paced retail environment
- Enthusiasm and a passion for cannabis!
- Uncompromising focus on customer service and willingness to bring the best possible experience to our patients
- Experience with either communicating or delegating tasks, and/or training and employee development
- Comfort and familiarity using retail POS systems, phone systems, Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Drive)
- Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities, effectively separate big from small, and make high-quality decisions independently (and seek advice when necessary)
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs
- Flexible schedule with ability to work between 45 and 55 hours per week and retail hours, including nights and weekends

We are seeking a passionate, determined, detail-oriented, process-minded individual to assist in the propagation of our plants. This person must be willing to work long hours and be at the beck and call of our crops. They have to have a high degree of attention to detail, be able to spot problems, and work collaboratively with our team of growers to ensure those problems are addressed quickly and satisfactorily. In addition, this person must be comfortable executing routine tasks consistently, while always identifying ways to iterate our processes to achieve better propagation results. This individual must also be humble and cautious, always being wary of what they don’t know and then working hard to close gaps in knowledge.
Job responsibilities include all aspects of indoor cannabis cultivation including, but not limited to:
- Conduct propagation via rooted cuttings, acclimating rooted clones for transplant into production rooms, and transplanting stock plants
- Consistently execute current processes for propagation to an exactingly high standard
- Identify and propose improvements to propagation process to managers using data and logic
- Implement and execute best in class IPM procedures
- Feed, water, and prune stock plants
- Maintain a clean grow environment
- Schedule and follow an annual grow schedule while adjusting for changes
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal licensing requirements
- Evaluate health of stock plants and clones
- Diligently clean and prepare propagation room
- Execute foliar spray applications and drenches
- Input data and tag plants utilizing compliance reporting software
- Assist in other grow room duties when needed
- Measure and mix nutrients stock tanks
- A degree in Horticulture, Plant Science or a related physical science degree
- 3-5 years of direct experience with commercial horticulture and/or cannabis cultivation using soil / soilless media
- Experience with tissue culture is a plus
- Ability to precisely follow directions and work closely with the grow schedule
- Required rotating weekends and holiday shifts
- Self-motivated, self-starting, able to work without direct supervision and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
- Familiarity with Argus or other commercial greenhouse control systems
- High level of attention to detail, familiarity with plant diseases and pests and a keen eye when scouting
