Requirements
- B.A. in related area of study such as education/public policy/public health or three years of community-based experience, emphasis on youth leadership, community health, or public policy preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with policy-makers and community stakeholders and/or high school-aged youth to promote policy change; experience in public health highly desirable.
- Cultural competency and substantial experience working with diverse communities; ability to be flexible and positive working with people and orgs with different backgrounds and viewpoints.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, confidence in public speaking, and ability to balance competing demands.
- Ability to acquire deep substantive understanding of subject areas including California alcohol and cannabis law and issues affecting public health in low-income and immigrant communities.
- Valid drivers license is required; Spanish-English bilingual preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise high school age youth from three high schools in West Contra Costa County.
- Coordinate appropriate trainings and provide ongoing project support for young people.
- Act as a youth development practitioner in accordance with BACR Best Practices.
- Support youth and collaborate with school and community partners to Implement the work plan.
- Organize and carry out enrichment activities to promote youth leadership and group development.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including other service providers,community leaders, client groups, government and civic organizations and coalitions.
- Manage day-to-day program operations, monitor achievement of outcome goals and objectives.
- Collect relevant data; provide documentation and reports, support evaluation and monitoring.
- Participate in county workgroups, agency committees, and other sponsored activities.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The West County Alcohol Policy Coalitionis seeking a Coalition Coordinator with a history of leadership in the fight for health equity and social justice, coupled with solid administrative experience. The Coalition Coordinator will play a critical role in advocating for policy, systems and environmental change strategies, expanding the coalition membership and reach, and organizing major events that are the core of the coalition purpose. The coordinator will provide strategic direction and coordinate activities of the West County Alcohol Policy Coalition.
Reports to: Advocacy and Policy Director
Location: WestContra Costa County and El Cerrito, California; currently hybrid due to COVID-19. Applicants must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or surrounding counties and able to attend in-person community events and join up with the team in office.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working with policy-makers and community stakeholders to promote policy change
- Experience engaging and mobilizing community members
- Demonstrated commitment to issues of equity, social justice, diversity and cultural competency
- Demonstrated capacity facilitating groups, achieving consensus, and taking action
Preferred:
- Experience in public health, AOD and/or policy
- Spanish – English Bi-lingual preferred
- Knowledge of West Contra Costa County
- Public speaking skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Grow, develop, and maintain relationships with community coalition, including outreach to existing members and recruitment of new members;
- Work with members to plan, organize, and facilitate regular coalition meetings and organize an annual retreat;
- Guide coalition in annual planning and ensure the successful attainment of the goals set out by the coalition;
- Build leadership and organizing capacity of West County residents and community groups, to effectively drive and shape systemic change;
- Prepare coalition members to members for public speaking, media interviews and public comment at city meetings;
- Update coalition members on data around local youth alcohol and drug (AOD) use, emerging trends, local merchant compliance, and actionable local and state policy issues regarding alcohol, marijuana, and prescription drug issues;
- Conduct visits to local alcohol and cannabis retailers to monitor stores, develop relationships with merchants and provide merchant education
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports;
- Participate in professional development and county system of care meetings.
