Position Summary:
The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) is the Federal Government's lead agency for scientific research on complementary and integrative health approaches. The mission of NCCIH is to determine, through rigorous scientific investigation, the fundamental science, usefulness, and safety of complementary and integrative health approaches and their roles in improving health and health care.
The NCCIH supports rigorous scientific investigation of natural products such as the cannabis plant and its components and is looking to hire a contractor to provide consultation services to our Cannabinoid Working Group to assist with promoting the research, assisting outreach to the extramural research community and setting up a trans-National Institutes of Health (NIH) Cannabinoid Working Group. These activities will be advanced through multi-, inter-, and trans-disciplinary research efforts. To this end, NCCIH wishes to engage the activities of an individual with broad expertise in the cannabis and cannabinoid research field, with established contacts in that field, and with experience with NIH extramural program and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Support initiatives to expand NCCIH and trans- NIH supported extramural cannabinoid/cannabis research focused on potential therapeutic use, in the form of funding opportunity announcements, internal and external meetings and workshops, or other vehicles, which will require the following activities by the Consultant:
- Contribution to the development of meeting agendas content, synthesizing relevant concepts and gaps and directions from internal meetings;
- NCCIH internal cannabinoid working group meetings are held monthly. Planned trans NIH workgroup meetings will be quarterly, with an additional quarterly interim meeting on follow-up activities, for a total of 10 trans-NIH workgroup meetings. The contractor will be responsible for proposing and assisting with agenda items for these meetings, for making presentations on areas of expertise as required, and participating in NCCIH activities to address follow-up items and coordinating trans NIH topic specific meetings in follow-up to the quarterly workgroup meetings. Summaries of topics discussed, actions taken, needed follow-up items and recommendations to achieve proposed activities to address follow-up items will be provided for each meeting.
- Assist in the organization and coordination of stakeholder meetings;
- The contractor shall, at the direction of the COR, organize, plan, and coordinate approximately three meetings with outside experts and stakeholders, each six months on topics to be identified by the NCCIH cannabinoid working group and/or the trans NIH working group. Such meetings will address outstanding issues related to developing research initiatives on the potential medical benefits of cannabis derived compounds (e.g., cannabinoids and terpenes). Potential topics include but are not limited to: manufacture and supply of cannabinoids for research. Issues related to human use of new chemical agents, regulatory concerns regarding patient use and possession of such compounds, identification of areas of research appropriate for NCCIH or trans NIH support, coordination of NIH activities with non-government organizations, establishing communication with key government and non-government organizations relevant to the NCCIH mission, such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state research programs, etc.
- Assist in the writing of funding initiatives that arise from such meetings and from related efforts;
- The contractor shall be responsible for assisting in the drafting of funding initiatives such as requests for applications (RFAs), program announcements (Pas), and notices of special interest (NOSIs) that will be supported by multiple NIH Institutes and Centers. Initially it is expected that there will be at least two such trans NIH activities in the first six-month period. Work shall include drafting of language, soliciting comments from other Institutes and Centers (ICs), incorporating comments as appropriate, recommending funding mechanisms to achieve goals of collaborations, and leading discussions and negotiations to achieve consensus.
- Serve as a liaison to the NIH Institutes and key external stakeholder to support interest and action as needed in the development of grant -funding initiatives.
- The contractor shall be a point of contact (POC) during the development of NIH initiatives and will be involved in establishing contacts in relevant ICs on each initiative, maintaining clear, frequent, and goal-oriented communications, and obtaining consensus among the ICs on specific initiatives. For activities involving external stakeholders, the contractor will identify key personnel, engaging with them on topics of relevance, and as appropriate, bringing their input to the NCCIH and trans-NIH working groups.
Minimum Requirements:
- The contractor must have NIH 15 years program experience and an understanding of the NIH Institutes and Centers and their extramural programs. The contractor must have at least 15 years of NIH program experience with the cannabis/cannabinoids research field. The experience requirements would be minimums to provide the depth of knowledge and experience needed to successfully and effectively accomplish the tasks described. There have been significant changes in cannabis policy and research over the last 15 years and experiential knowledge of these changes is deemed essential for this project. In addition, the 15-year experience requirement for NIH programs is deemed essential in order to assure that an adequate knowledge base exists in order to effectively advise and consult with external stakeholders on the complex NIH research grant policy for developing and NIH pragma initiatives

The Retail Patient Consultant (PC) position s primary responsibility is to provide friendly, professional and compassionate customer service to our patients. Theory Wellness operates state of the art cannabis cultivation and dispensing facilities in multiple states. We are seeking enthusiastic retail leader candidates to support the day-to-day retail operations in our recreational dispensaries.
Responsibilities will include:
- Functioning as a cannabis consultant, you will deliver world-class service to our valued guests.
- Support all accurate inventory processing and sales execution in our POS system.
- Help handle all related selling and consumer facing tasks.
- Help support all facets of accurate scanning, and product movement.
- Follow procedures and standards for all Theory systems and processes.
- Drive Key Performance Indicator (KPI) adherence around sales and service.
- Ensure compliance with all Office of Marijuna Policy regulations.
- Drive exemplary peer support and relationships within Theory to support company initiatives.
- Other duties relating to TWI’s dispensary operations on an as needed basis.
- Execute side duties, or tasks are required around cleaning, organization and cash handling.
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs

The Cannabis Sales Consultant (CSC) is responsible for creating a world-class customer experience for all customers. The Cannabis Consultant position is an integral member of the daily operations team at our retail dispensary locations operated by East of Eden Cannabis Co. Cannabis Consultants are friendly, compassionate cannabis professionals who guide customers through the process of understanding, selecting and purchasing cannabis products, such as flower, concentrates, edibles and topicals.
Essential Functions:
- Greet and acknowledge each customer as they enter and/or exit in a friendly, positive manner
- Serve as a point-of-contact for all customers at East of Eden Cannabis Co.
- Assist with daily retail operations at East of Eden Cannabis Co. dispensary to ensure operations run smoothly and efficiently
- Cashier using Point of Sale systems and be proactive in assisting customers who are using devices to shop and compare.
- Sell cannabis products and merchandise through customer service techniques and professional selling skills, including sharing of product knowledge and up-selling.
- Provide an exceptional customer experience for both digital and physical customers by listening and responding to customer needs

Job Description
The Cannabis Sales Consultant is responsible for creating a world class customer experience for each and every customer who walks in the store. it will promote a work environment that is positive, customer service-oriented and compliant. This position is accountable for executing initiatives that achieve all hospitality goals at PharmaCann.
This includes responsibility for compliance with all policy and procedures and all other operational objectives of the business, as well as executing visual standards and presentation needs to customer requirements, product performance, along with sales and marketing objectives. The ideal candidate should be passionate about their role and have a strong willingness to help people become educated about cannabis.
Duties and responsibilities or (Essential Functions)
- Meet & Exceed personal sales volume and KPI goals
- Assist in building a great company and business that disrupts the traditional retail model and embrace change
- Add value to the team by being authentic and confident self-leader who strives to execute our world class hospitality program.
- Drive repeat business through strong local networking and customer data capture, patient confidence inspiration and building of patient loyalty
- Execute high customer experience standards, to include a world class culture and industry leading customer engagement through strong sales techniques and product knowledge
- Accountable for accurately utilizing PharmaCann’s Point of Sale system
- Execute PharmaCann’s dispensary protocols including safety protocols
- Other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with customer service in retail
- Strong analytical skills to assess data, facts and figures
- Intermediate-level math skills
- Strong Computer based skills

Working conditions
- This job operates in a professional store environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
- This position requires weekends, nights and holiday work availability.
- May require minimal travel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or feet, reach with hands and arms and may be required to lift a up to 50 pounds.

ROLE SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Retail Patient Consultant (PC) position s primary responsibility is to provide friendly, professional and compassionate customer service to our patients. The key responsibilities are to check-in patients and verify their Pennsylvania issued MMJ card and identification, complete accurate and compliant transactions and fulfillment of patient orders, and by providing extraordinary customer service. The Patient Consultant also supports our medical professional team to address patient questions and supports our compliance efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the front-line, first impression for Cure ensuring our mission, vision and values are conveyed to our patients
- Provide friendly, professional, and compassionate customer service to our patients
- Greet and check-in patients by verifying their Pennsylvania issued MMJ card and identification
- Accurate and timely entry of patient information into MJ Platform
- Answer phones in a welcoming and pleasant manner while providing resources or information to fulfil patient needs
- Pick and fill patient orders accurately and efficiently based on the patient s consultation
- Utilize resources and tools to develop and continue ongoing knowledge of medical marijuana, compliance and customer service needs
- Complete and maintain timely, accurate sales transactions with correct cash handling
- Managing time and respecting protocol and compliance under fast-paced retail conditions
- Enforce compliance efforts by prohibiting purchases of unapproved or restricted products, adhering to our AML policy and notifying management of suspicious or dangerous activity
- Learn and be able to successfully operate Pennsylvania s web-based seed-to-sale tracking system MJ Platform

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position takes place in a cannabis retail environment that requires several interactions throughout the day with patients.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands and responsibilities described here are representative of those are met by an employee to successfully perform the job. This position is very active and requires prolonged standing, sitting, and walking for the duration of the shift. This position requires the ability to lift/push/pull up to 30 pounds, more with assistance.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a part-time non-exempt position in a medical marijuana dispensary open seven days per week. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather may be required. This position reports to the Dispensary Manager.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED is required
- 2-4 years of retail and/or service experience is required
- Cannabis knowledge is a plus
- Cash handling experience is required
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus
- Ability to maintain and pass Pennsylvania Department of Health background check
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
All candidates must successfully pass the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program 2-hour compliance training within 30 days of hire.
