The hourly rate or salary range for this role is 77,900 – 107,100. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.

What you'll do
This Research, Development and Application Senior Scientist will work to bring novel, liquid compatible, cannabinoid based formulations to market. This includes concept ideation, research, development and commercialization of new formulations and products.
- Lead formulation and development from end-to-end on internal and customer projects within North America.
- Use sound commercial and technical awareness of ingredients, processes, materials, and customer requirements to deliver on project objectives.
- Develop innovative solutions to help grow Flowe's market within cost parameters and manufacturing capabilities while ensuring all new products meet legal standards within country of use.
- Manage Pilot Plant validation work and facilitate first production trials of new products internally and with customers.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a growing RD&A team.

The demo/field applications scientist is responsible for demonstration and application support for cannabis/environmental/food/beverage customers. This role will support our triple quadrupole, QTRAP and TripleTOF platforms. The Applications Scientist will work closely with Sales team, Engineers, Product team and other peer Demo Scientists and Application Scientists to support pre-sale visits and presentations, product application and demonstration, method development and troubleshooting, customer training and technical support. The job function includes up to 50% of travel in North America and requires the candidate to live near one of our demo labs. Qualifications:
BS or higher degree is desired in chemistry or biology
2 years or more of strong experience in bioanalytical method development on LC-MS/MS on different platforms including triple quadrupole, QTRAP and Triple TOF.
2+ years practical experience on LC/MS applications in at least one of the following areas: cannabis, environmental, food & beverage.
Extensive sample preparation and strong chromatographic separation skills and experiences are essential.
Strong troubleshooting skills for HPLC and MS are highlight desirable.
Excellent presentation, communication and customer facing skills required
Able to travel 50% of the time

APPLICATION SCIENTIST -Flash Chromatography:
The Application Scientist will provide a scientific foundation to Advion’s puriFlash separation and purification product line by developing a sound understanding of customer needs, developing applications and performing sample preparation activities in the key disciplines of:
· Organic synthetic chemistry separation/isolation
· Natural products purification including hemp/cannabis
· Food/Flavor chemistry
The incumbent will support commercial activities and sales through the generation of data for application notes and technical literature (MarCom) and will communicate product operation and sample preparation techniques to customers through demonstrations, training courses, and formal presentations at conferences and scientific meetings. The incumbent will also contribute to the customer service and technical improvement activities as assigned.
Up to 33% overnight travel may be required, working onsite with customers or participating in scientific conferences and meetings. Occasional international travel if needed (< 10%).
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop effective analytical methodology for the separation and isolation of small molecules in various matrices.
· Generate new data by working with Advion colleagues and customers in our key application areas. Data will take the form of application notes, publications in peer reviewed journals and/or slides for oral and poster presentations at conferences.
· Interact with customers and markets to define new applications and open new markets.
· Interact with Marketing Communications to help develop effective marketing strategies and campaigns.
· Interact with prospective customers to support the sales process.
· Provide onsite and telephone support and problem solving for customers experiencing sample preparation and analysis difficulties.
· Provide onsite customer training and applications assistance as part of Advion’s initiative for post installation, application-specific training.
· Conduct on- and off-site demonstrations of the company’s products to potential customers in support of Advion’s sales and marketing efforts.
· Interact with customers by phone or by laboratory visits to establish analysis needs, analyze customer samples, and provide reports to customers to support the sales process.
· Provide training classes for customers at Advion’s Ithaca facilities.
· Work closely with the research and engineering group to develop and test new products.
This position will report directly to the Director, Customer Service and Application Development.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Masters degree in analytical chemistry, food sciences or pharmacology/toxicology. PhD level training is a plus. Other degree with demonstrated experience will be considered.
· Must possess in-depth knowledge and expertise of modern liquid chromatography separation (TLC, Flash, preparative HPLC, preferably with experience in organic synthetic chemistry separation, natural products isolation and/or food/flavor chemistry
· A demonstrated background of hardware skills and ability to troubleshoot liquid chromatography based scientific instruments as well as excellent communication and people skills.
· General knowledge of mass spectrometry with atmospheric pressure ionization (ESI and APCI) would be a plus.
· Three or more years of experience of application development or other hands-on laboratory work with liquid chromatography.
· US Citizen or Green Card holder
· Position is based in Ithaca, NY and requires up to 33% travel (< 10% international).

This role will specialize in the use of our Organic portfolio in chemical, food safety, cannabis, environmental, pharmaceutical and industrial applications with an emphasis on cannabis applications. This role provides sales support for our GC and GCMS products to include applications development, training and presales activities. Preference on location is West Coast, Northern California is ideal.
Our Team
The Discovery and Analytical Solutions group services the Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, Food and Beverage, including Cannabis, Chemical, Agriculture, and Government markets. The Field Application Scientists works closely with the sales team to optimize the research scope and vision for our customers.
Job Responsibilities
- Execute technical product demonstrations/presentations to individual prospects and seminar audiences in support of pre-sales activity including workshops and RFI/RFP support for product area.
- Provide subject matter expertise in the areas of GC, GCMS analysis to support customers in understanding how to maximize their use of our software applications
- Collaborate with all Field Team members to develop and deploy world-class systems and tools and provide front-line support to sales as the Field application Scientist
- Provide and deliver product training to field (marketing & sales) as new features/functionality are available for designated product and domain specialty
- Coordinate with Product Management to identify, communicate, and incorporate new product enhancements and also with the Services team to insure we deliver competitive solutions that are differentiated through value as perceived by our customers
- Characterize the external market by performing pipeline analysis and competitive assessments for region and scientific domain
- Coordinate with Marketing Communications organization to develop and participate in marketing campaign design and execution as needed

Present a professional image at all times to customers, clients and other vendors.
Qualifications
- MS, PhD and/or BS in a scientific discipline or equivalent with 5 plus years in the Chromatography and Mass Spectroscopy field.
- Experience and working knowledge of GC and GCMS including sample preparation requirements.
- Current or previous scientific expertise and experience with a customer focus and excellent communication skills
- Willingness for as much as 50% overnight travel.
